did you disconnect the battery before that happened? doing that can cause all sorts of wierd problems with the computer if you don't use a backup power source.

Is there a trick to reset the brain on gxp? I lost tire sensors, oil sensor, alarm system....
There is a known problem with some original programming that results in the TPMS and RKE systems not working after a power loss. Unfortunately, the only solution is a re-flash that requires a dealer or someone with a Tech2 or equivalent and access to GM's TIS2WEB.

What is the oil sensor?

I had to have the program update done last month. I took the opportunity to get new fobs and since that had to programmed anyway.

There is a situation with the 2008's, where the Remote Control Door Lock Receiver, which is also used by the TPMS, forgets its programming when there is a power loss.

There is a Technical Service Bulletin dealing with this situation, and it usually is handled by a GM service center. The RCDLR needs to be reprogrammed as detailed by JohnWR in this thread.

BEFORE you buy any new remotes ... pop your existing REMOTE open. Check to see if the circuit board is soldered correctly. If ANY connections are bad ~ (loose or look cracked) (there are 4 of them to check with the circuit board sitting in it's original position ... )
take a small soldering iron with a pointed end and touch (to melting the solder) then remove from each of the 4 points. The Circuit board should then be solid in the remote (not rattling around loose) ... and the remote will act exactly like new. No need to reprogram

I too have an 08 GXP. I have learned through removing the battery cables for whatever purpose / reason ... it takes the on board computer about 2 mins to COMPLETELY reset itself. This is easily observed in the following manner: BEFORE YOU CONNECT YOUR BATTERY CABLES BACK UP .... remove your ignition key. Connect the cable(s) back to the battery. Once the battery cables are properly connected (you may here some light clicking noises from your engine bay when doing the cables ...) sit in the drivers seat and slide your key in.

Turn the key ON but DO NOT START your car. Turn the key forward to the ON position but again ... USE CARE TO NOT START THE CAR. Your dash lights will begin to function and you will hear the computer going through its check procedure. THE MOST TELL TALE SIGN ------ >>>>>>> the 3 horizontal amber lights in the 3 round knobs above your radio (A/C / temp setting etc) ... WILL FLASH. They will continue to flash approximately 45 seconds to a minute. Once they shut off permanently, the on board computer is done with it's checks. You can then, start your car (which is advisable) and let it run for a minute or 2. Check your A/C / temp knob etc ... for proper function(s).

Kill the car. Try your remote control to ensure it too is working properly. That should preclude you from having to reset anything as the on board computer will set itself to factory defaults. INCLUDING GMPP add-ons if you have them. Hope this works for you .... it always has for me

The AC control knobs are performing an automatic recalibration. You can initiate this manually by turning both knobs the left and then pressing in on the two outside knobs until the recalibration starts (flashing lights). It (all of them) do this when you reapply power after removing it. Good thing to know.
