Did you disconnect the battery before you installed it ? If not remove the negative post for a few minutes then reattach this should clear CEL . If your light is still on you will need a code reader to find out what the issue is . Anytime you work on any major electrical component you need to remove the power to it .

You can get an OBD ready pretty cheap and check for the code. But, as Rob says, if it's not blinking you're probably good to go - but please find out what's causing it.

If you don't want to drop $30 on a ready, stop at a local parts store and they will read it for you.
