Hello all! I am new to the forum (and new to pontiacs) and am seriously considering buying a GXP. I have test driven an N/A model and feel that the GXP is right for me. After doing some research on here and the typical sites (Edmunds, kbb, nada) I ran across this one:

Used 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP For Sale - K7855330 | Toledo OH | Serving Maumee, Monroe & Bowling Green

What do you think about the one listed above and what is a reasonable offer? Car FAX is clean but it has jumped around a few states.

Also, I have been looking for a break down between the model years. Is there a post or listing somewhere of what changed between the model years? Or did the options packages remain the same?

This will be my first convertible and any help and tips on what to look out for during the car buying process is appreciated!!!

I paid 17 for my 08GXP a couple weeks ago with 31k miles so tes, this is a fair deal. You want something with low mileage for sure. I've come across a bunch for under 15 but they had over 50 where most of the problems begin.

So, are you going to sell it in 20,000 miles or only put 2000 miles a year on it?

I am hoping this vehicle runs like my current and past GM vehicles.

Wife's '04 Rendezvous has 143,000 miles and has only had one part replaced.
Our '00 GMC Sierra when 186,000 miles without ever seeing a mechanic. Never even needed the brakes replaced. Only sold it because we needed a 2500 sierra farm truck. That truck has 43,000 miles of trouble free service so far.

You can talk them down - summer is coming to an end. Kind of interesting with the cloth interior and auto - don't see many that way. For comparison, I bought my 08 GXP ~4 months ago with 34K for 17,100. Have seen better deals since, but that's why you should buy and stop looking!

This dealer does not want to come down at all. I was able to talk to a few dealers and get them to come down in prices for non-GXPs. So, this one does not seem like a bad deal, but maybe I should wait a few months and I can probably get dealers who are more willing to make a good deal for a convertible in the colder months. This was the only GXP I saw with the non-leather seats -- I thought it was a bit unusual, but definitely not a deal breaker for me. Thanks for the feedback!

well, if you must know, I probably am only going to put 2,000 miles on it a year. My daily round trip is less than 10 miles and that includes going home for lunch. I'd just rather buy it with low miles so I know that all the maintenance has been done correctly for the life of the vehicle and I know how it's been driven. Most of the ones I saw with over 50k were beat to crap.

Just on a side note, A while back someone mentioned that the 08 had brake problems if you didn't have the extra hose thingy. well, my 08 does not have the fix, if you will and I must say that my brakes are totally fine. this morning I was in a hurry and had to move my car so my son could get out and I had brakes right away.

Yup. Mine is the same... part of the "bad" build dates. Never had an issue.

Dealers that won't deal? hm... Bit of a redflag for me. That said the miles are extremely low, looks mint which is awesome. I would arm myself with stats on other cars like this one... gxp, manual.. etc etc. Fine comparable ads on carguru/autotrader and look at price. Tell dealer what you have found. I think it's priced a bit high for a 5 year old. Maybe then he will deal a bit. I bought my coupe from an online ad. first thing they did as offer me 1K off for the internet purchase... What does KBB and Edmunds say on price? That's the main question. Low miles or not its still five going on SIX years old. Just my 2 cents, but don't let me bust your bubble. IF it's worth it to you? Then it's worth it!!! Right! Good luck, SteveO

I picked up my gxp this week. 2008, 38711 miles, Envious, for $16,250. Great condition and I absolutely LOVE the green. I am so glad I went to see the green in person, because the color does not photograph well. Now I get to learn to drive a stick shift today!

I got the extended warranty (but do have 60 days to cancel it and am doing some additional research on it) and am trying to find a good place to take it for service (around southern suburbs in Cuyahoga County / Cleveland, OH area).

Yep, congrats. sounds like a good deal too. I'd keep the extended warranty if it's thru GM. that's money well spent. Back to the brakes issue, I now know what you guys are talking about. as long as you start the car first then there's no issue but I have noticed that the pedal is very stiff sometimes and if you are at an incline and depress the clutch pedal, the car will inch back a bit. still no big deal for me.

Sounds like a good deal. My wifes 08 has been great so far. Of course it hasn't hit 20k yet but she loves it. Easy to drive, easy to clean and detail and minor maintenance is pretty easy.

That e-bay photo is the worst photo of a green car I have ever seen. Maybe that's why you got the deal you did? Get out there and take some good pics now
