Except that they're not. They happen to be marked as 2010s, but they were made in the middle of the 2009 run.
I was confused by this as well, because my mom (quality director at Wilmington) said all the 2010 models were not going to be sold to the public because to have them taxed and rated for safety standards would cost a fortune for GM and they didn't want to mess with it, so all 2010s were sent to Michigan as testers and not tagged for road use.

Not sure what really happened, but these 20 cars (12 Coupes, 8 Roadsters) were given sequential vins from 0001 to 0030.

What happened is that they went into the GM Captured Use fleet, and when they were turned back in to the lease company, they were routinely placed into the used, for sale at dealer auction fleet, where they were sold, used, at dealer auction.

There were also 8 2010 Saturn Skys that ended up being sold as used at dealer auction. One dealer in the Minneapolis area managed to get all 8 at dealer auction.

There were also 2 2010 Opel GTs. I've never been able to determine their fate. The only info I have is their VINs.

I guess that would explain why the last Solstice has vin 0030.

Original production build times frames & GM vehicle mandates history aside; collectors are only looking at one thing; the VIN. Which provides documentation that GM acknowledges that 30 2010s Kappa's were produced.

So edit, update, and correct individuals sporting R.I.P. Pontiac decals from 1926-2009 to R.I.P. 1926-2010.

Not necessarily. Production operations shut down in 2009. Kind of depends on if you want to go by model year or actual production shutdown.

I think many are way premature as far as it's collectors value. It'll take 20+ years to ever see any "profits" for those long term collectors.. I do however wish them well..

I agree it's too premature to validate collectability due to the fact that "time" plays an integral part in future collectables, and notice I said collectables and not value. Not even sure how value can be discussed until it's proven that demand is impacting supply.

Regardless, I could care less because I wasn't even thinking about collectability (let alone future value) because I purchased the coupe primarily because I preferred it's styling. It was only after seeing convertibles on our evening walks that I began to appreciate the attributes of a topless vehicles.

Worth noting is how the new Jag-U-are F type plays out, since it somewhat derivative of Kappa's, will be offered in both vert and coupe version, plus has a heck of a lot more panache and pedigree than Kappa's will ever hope to achieve. If the F type enjoys long term success than it will be an indicator of how short-sighted GM was in not retiring and then resurrecting the Kappa II platform under a new division.

Great idea. I was talking on another forum in regards to Kappas, and window stickers. I know none of the 102 pre-production coupes from 2009 didn't have them, which would make sense, but I believe none of the 2010's did either. Only the 1152 regular-production 2009's did. Has anyone seen a 2010 with the sticker folded up somewhere?

Interesting.

That owner obviously figures that he will find a numerologist out there that will attach a premium of approximately $8-10,000 to the fact that a particular car, manufactured before many of the 2009 run, happens to have a unique serial number and 2010 designation, and perhaps the odd build feature at variance with the normal 2009 run.

Doesn't make any sense to me, especially a a mileage far higher than many pristine 2009 coupe, but I guess we'll see.

That's the problem, as ALL of the 2010's have pretty high mileage on them. The only other thing you're getting is remote start, which was standard on the '10 autos. You won't even get a window sticker. They never came on the '10's.

(The seller also mistakenly called their place of manufacture Wilmington, OH!)
