MEET: NOON OCTOBER 16, 2010 at the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center

Enter the North Gate of Skyline Drive in Front Royal, VA (pay $15 Entrance Fee) and proceed 5 miles to the Dickey Ridge Visitor Center.

Dinner will be at South River Grill, Exit 94 in Waynesboro, VA following the cruise.
:)

Skyline Drive is a 105 mile (169 km) road that runs the entire length of the Shenandoah National Park in the Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. Construction on the road began in 1931 and was completed in 1939. Since then it has been treating visitors to spectacular views of the Appalachian Mountains.

The Blue Ridge forms the eastern rampart of the Appalachians. The Skyline Drive runs along the Blue Ridge at an elevation of 2700-3000 feet (822-915 m). The photo was taken at the Rockytop Overlook where the elevation was 2860 feet (870 m).

The best time to go there is in the fall when the leaves are changing color. Obviously by mid-November the trees have lost their leaves but it is no less spectacular for it.

These mountains are among the highest that the east coast United States has to offer.

WOW! We can't beleave it's almost that time again. Pauline and I would not miss it.
This year ( if it's ok ) we would like to change the location of the friday night dinner. We have been going to a place in Front Royal called, Stonewall Jackson Restaurant. It has plenty of room for all of us and has happy hour from 5 to 7. They have the best and biggest prime rib we have ever had.( about $14.00 ) They also have steak, seafood, pasta and chicken. Here is the address.

Stonewall Jackson Restaurant
915 N. royal ave.
Front Royal, VA. 22630

If there is enough of us, they will also do breakfast for us.

Can't wait to see you all again:grouphug:

Ironic you posted this tonite! Camellia and I will put this on our calendar! It's always fun to do that drive. :willy:
Solstice is on the lift for 'inside the wheel' cleaning, sanding (salt got to it) and repainting, waxing and WD-40ing. Have a whopping 23,000 miles now!
(since April- been driving the classics weather permitting).
