Hey all! Sounds like a beautiful weekend coming up…

Our family will be at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI (www.greatlakesdragaway.com) this Sunday to run our Chevelle. :driving:

The track is open for fun racing this weekend. Gates open at 10 am. Anyone interested in hanging out or running their car is welcome to join us; we’ll be in a red Denali and long enclosed white car trailer. The Chevelle is purple and black.

We normally arrive early to get a good spot, so joining up outside before the gates open is possible.

Great Lakes Dragaway is an NHRA-sanctioned track and operates on NHRA rules. Convertibles are required to have a roll bar if they run faster than 13.5 sec, and a helmet is required if you run faster than 13.99. Cost for running a car is about $40/driver for the day.

PM or email if you have questions or would like to meet up before the gates open.

Racing Results

Hi all ~
The day at the track went well yesterday. The Chevelle's best run was 11.4 at 99+ MPH. I also was able to make 5 runs with the Redline. It was my very first time drag racing so Keith rode along for the first 2 runs to give me some pointers. :driving:

Here's the particulars of the very first run (with an extra person in the car) and my last solo run (the best of the day). I tried running in normal (TC & ESC on); Competitive mode, and TC off. TC off yielded the best overall time of the day and the best 60 foot time.

Run #1
Reaction Time (R/T) ... .479
Time to 60 feet (60') ... 2.400
Time to 330 feet (330) ... 6.406
Time to 1/8 mi (1/8) ... 9.707 at 76.65 MPH
Time to 1000 feet (1000)...12.586
Time to 1/4 mi (1/4) ... 15.028 at 94.07 MPH

Run #5
R/T ... .317 (My day's best was actually .254 on run #3)
60' ... 2.232
330 ... 6.122
1/8 ... 9.316 at 78.78 MPH
1000...12.115
1/4 ... 14.481 at 97.17 MPH

I've upload some pictures from the day at:
GreatLakesDragaway 11_4_07

There is also video, which I'm not sure how to get online, but I'll see what I can do.

Had too much fun! I'll be racing again for sure!

Your best times are going to be with both esc and traction off (hold for ten seconds). TC off will always pull throttle on you. Your 60's should drop with both off.

Thanks for pointer, Jack. I didn't know about the 10 sec trick. I'll try it next time we're there.
