From Rustoleum's Q and A page:

8. Can NeverWet be used on fabric?
Rust-Oleum NeverWet will adhere to most fabrics, but dries to a flat milky haze with a chalky feel. Test in an inconspicuous area before applying to the entire surface.

9. Can NeverWet be applied to glass?
Yes, but the glass will no longer be transparent. NeverWet dries to a Flat Frosted Clear color, therefore, it should never be applied to windshields or automobile windows. NeverWet will work on any glass that you want to have superhydrophobic properties, but don’t need to see through.

12. Does NeverWet work with all liquids?
NeverWet is formulated to work specifically with water-based liquids. Liquids containing oils, detergents, or solvents will remove the Top Coat and reduce the superhydrophobic properties.

Nuff said for me.

So a friend of mine posted his results with this product. I was thinking about our tops. We always try to get them to be "waterproof" from the elements.
Have an '09 GXP and was traveling from Lansing, MI to Farmington, MI, via I-96 last summer and I was caught in a horrendous thunderstorm, the worst rain I had seen in years, so bad that a normal 50 minute trip took over two hours. Once home and watching the 6 o'clock news, I found out that the storm also directly followed I-96 (thus explaining why my 2 or 3 stops waiting for the rain to pass made no difference). The news reported (and my observation confirmed) was that there was so much rain that there was a lot of street flooding.

Even with all that rain and no top treatment of any type, my top did not leak a drop.

Just lucky -- or did the General do a nice job? :dunno:
