I have the NORM'S FIBERGLASS ZR-1 Fenders now I want to mount some
RED lights that would glow at night...I bought some from the truck stop nearby where i work at night

I have them mounted with some 3M Trim tape...what is the proper way to wire them up, I'd like these lights to be switched on when the side marker lights are on, but shut off with the key, I have tried the fuse jumper, it just wont shut them off Do I have to Tap into the Marker light and run the jumper

Can someone here help out..... tell me how to wire them up, so nothing shorts out -- I have a total of 4 ( 2 on each side )

I have the little fuse jumper that will allow it to go into the fuse slot, run the accessory you are jumping and the small lights I am adding on.....Would it be better to wire them up to a small relay( i don't want to drill out a hole for a switch, just have them turn on with the parking lights.

Send a PM to me, Leave a detailed response to the post

Thanks !

Your settings don't allow private messages. You might try a resister if your using LED's. They use so little amperage to work that the residual voltage in the line still allows them to glow after the main power supply has been turn off.

First, if you wire them in any way to the side marker lights, they'll be on with the side markers and not necessarily turn off with the key (i.e. if you leave the lights on when you get out).

I would suggest just using wire taps off the side-side marker supply in each fender. Should be simple enough using something like:

Also, check your local laws... I think generally speaking, red should ONLY be used for tail lights. Other vehicles on the road will be confused when they see red lights near the front of a vehicle.

LiquidPT is correct. Check with your local authorities to make sure it is legal. I can tell you for Michigan, when it came to my WindRestrictor lighting up while driving, it is completely illegal to have anything but red in Michigan! I have white, so technically I can be ticketed. Have I been ticketed? Nope...as a matter of fact, I've had 2 cops stop me and tell me how cool it looks! LOL... There were 2 very different sets of laws I read. The first said as long as it didn't blind anyone and was used as ambient lighting, it was legal as long as it didn't flash. The second set of laws said that ANY lighting other then what was deemed necessary by law enforcement officials was legal as long as red was displayed from the rear, white/amber from the front and amber/red from the sides. But is this going to stop me from driving with it lit up??? NOPE!!!

These lights would be facing towards the back of the car, like the Big Rigs with the red marker lights on their front bumpers those lights are amber facing out to oncoming cars, and red facing towards the rear of the truck ( you would see them as you were passing the 18 wheeler

all hooked up ... works with running light..
