Does anyone make an aftermarket shifter with a shorter throw for the Solstice? Is it a Tremec 5 speed transmission?

It's an Aisin AR-5

The Colorado uses it. The Solstice already has a short throw shifter, you could possibly get a shorter one though.

Aisin makes the S2000 transmission, and some Cadys use Aisin too.

I believe Gravana has said they will offer a short-throw shifter.

I spent 400 miles yesterday in our Solstice on some of the twistiest CA roads getting a good baseline on the performance. The shift action is very good. Nice and short. I don't think it really needs to be any shorter. It snicks into gear quite well.

FTLOG Google it!

All sorts of companies use their transmissions. Honda S2000 for one example.

I keep seeing this but can find no reference on the AISIN website

I was under the impression that Honda builds all it's own transmissions. This HONDA website says that Honda designed the 6sp for the S2000.

Is it just a myth?

There were several articles a while back that stated it which is what I was going off of. This was one for example.

Those older articles might be wrong, but there were a lot of them claiming Aisin made the S2000 trany.

However Aisin does make the RX-8 and Miata tranys.
