Long story short, the wife is in Connecticut with my car; I am in Virginia. :bruce:

Full coverage. The other person was at fault. It's all good there, but I wonder; will they pull the quarter? Will they just pound out? It's a new wheel for sure right? I am also hip to fitment and placement with other panels in the event they remove it. Any comments, questions, sympathy, marriage counselors will be appreciated. :yesnod:

Paint damage?

I had a big dent in that same area and because you can get full access to that area when the wheel house liner is pulled back the "dent buster" guy locally was able to fix it for $100.

Came right to my door and fixed it in my driveway. You'd never know it had been damaged.

Is the wheel scratched or is it just rubber off the tire or the car that hit you?

Thanks Sly. I don't know but will pass this along to the wife. I feel better after your post. I suggested she go to the Buick Dealer in the area up there.

It's just a car. The good thing is that your wife is ok. Cars can be replaced, lives can't.

I can remember when my wife rear ended someone in her volvo a couple weeks after we bought it, she said she was ok, after getting off the phone, I said a few choice words and started to drive to the accident scene. On the way, I started thinking all these what if scenarios, what if she had been hurt, died, ect. It's amazing how a few minutes of think about how life would be without my wife turned me from fairly upset to getting out of the car and running over to give her a kiss and embrace her because the thought of losing her is far worse than the thought of damaging a car.

No possession is worth getting upset over. That's one of the best life lessons I've ever learned.

Oh brother, thank you for the counsel. I handled it with the patience of a saint. When it happened, I said to myself: "Okay. She's okay because she texted me from the scene. Next thought: I am mad. I am going to do something about it. What am I going to do about it? Nothing." The "Are You Married Thing" was a teaser.

The body man repaired my dent. Almost the same damage. The wheel was checked for true and cleaned up by the same shop. Looks good as new.

Yep. A good body shop / bump guy can take care of the fender. My view of the wheel is that it will mostly clean up with a little polishing.

We only had ours for a month or so when my bride was backing it out of the driveway past our son's Jeep. Not being familiar with the sight lines (and how poor they are) she ended up wedged against his Jeep. Trying to move up hill on the gravel (and not used to working a clutch after many years) she ended up digging the rear wheels into the gravel. I got things "unscrewed) but not without scraping some paint - the worst of which was the mysterious black we left on his body panel.

She was mortified and later the same weekend she drove over a curb. She was shook to the point that she said she never wanted to drive the car again.

"It's a car, honey. We bought it to enjoy it. If you're not going to drive it, that defeats the purpose of having it. Have fun and quit worrying. Nothing is going to happen to it that's important."

A month later I showed her how to drive by the tach. Yeah, she got over those minor mishaps!

Your car will be cool - glad your wife is okay. Roll with the punches and don't EVER teach her to drive by the tach!

Ha! I can't even drive by the tach. Every-time I try, I wind up taking my eyes off the road for too long. I am working on it though. Our car seems to run best at 3 grand. Is that about right? [Note to wife-this does not apply to you and your driving style] :yesnod:.

My ex-wife hit a deer with our brand new F150 (2 months old). She called me crying (it was her truck, I had a Mustang). I asked if she was okay...and when she said, "yes, but I know you're going to start yelling!" All I could do was laugh... I proceeded to talk to her while she brought the truck back to work (we both worked at the dealership, she was the secratary for the body shop). When she got back she was sobbing to the point of gasping for air.... I went out and waited for her to get out and immediately hugged her and asked if she was sure she was okay. She said yes. I asked why she was so upset.... she proceeded to say, "I don't understand why you aren't yelling and it scares me!".... LOL. I said it was a car, she was okay....and it was her car.... LOL Now when she got pulled over for doing 75 in a 55, that was a different story!!! LOL Good thing the state trooper that pulled her over was a good customer of mine and recognized the last name.

Cars are just objects... they aren't life. And I learned long ago, that if it was an accident, not to worry about it, but if it as and accident because someone was doing something stupid, that was a different story! Glad your wife is okay.

OMW41, I feel for you!, I'm in Connecticut, and I've had good results with a
group called "Dent Wizard". Google them, they do paintless dent repair and are very good. One of their techs took out a series of dents in the same area on my Solstice, and when he was finished, you couldn't ever tell they were there! Good luck!

Best place to find a "dent buster" type shop to fix this in my experience is to ask your dealer who they use. Ask the used car manager because there's someone in the lot regularly removing dents from the used cars.

The car is a 2008 Base Premium. Can anyone tell from the photo if I have the painted or chrome wheel? My wife seems to think those are scratches and not rubber. Therefore, that would mean a new wheel and I would hate to be driving around looking foolish-if you know what I mean.

From the picture, I can pretty much say you don't have the painted wheels. Not sure whether they are polished or chrome.

Check the label in the glove box:
QF8 is the RPO for Polished
PD5 is the RPO for Chrome
N87 is the RPO for Painted.
(assuming they are the same wheels the car was delivered with from the factory)

Good Luck!
