I watched a podcast this past week covering a garage tour at Bob Lutz' residence. He has a few garages on his property and posesses a host of rare car collectibles of very high dollar value.

I was pleased to see he has a Mysterious Solstice 5 speed Coupe in his collection.

I am sure all of you know thanks to Mr Lutz the Solstice was created. He loves that car and it's a fraction of the cost of all the others in his collection.

Very nice, figures he would have held onto one.

Dave I don't think 00002 was the second coupe produced.

Derek got the second Sequential unit. Then later, he sold it. :brentil:
It was interesting in the video with BL, he indicated about 1000 units were produced. So either he's getting over the hill and forgetful, or in his mind only the sequentials that were meant for the public count (1152 vs. 1266 total coupes)? It is kinda strange that there is roughly 10% of total Coupes that were meant as promo, GM this and GM that. Guess maybe early on no one had the news Pontiac was about to be canned?

He seemed to wander a little talking about his being Mysterious, manual and GXP and that he had like 1 of 4? Perhaps in his state? Because stats have that number at 110 Mysterious black manual GXP's. And as a matter of fact, he picked the most likely color for a coupe.

I'm thinking he has this car because of what it represents, and may consider it a high-point of his career. Lutz had been pushing the idea of a sports car for years (Ford, Chrysler), GM was the only car company that helped turn his dream into a reality.

Well, there was the Viper over at Chrysler... but that was closer to "supercar" than cheap sportscar

FWIW, there were 278 (not 276) black GXP coupes, but only 109 of them were the 'good ones' i.e. manual trans (they will be worth a bit more or will depreciate a bit more slowly depending on how you look at it).

Rarest colours are the two blues, yellow and gray, in that order.
