Can I get some advise about breaking in a new car please?

I figure I do not push it past 70 mph for the firt 500 miles.
I figure I get my first oil change at about 500 miles.
I figure I switch to a synthetic motor oil on the second oil change 3,500 miles.

Is this about right? Any suggestions or additional things I should know about owning and caring for a NEW car would be greatly appreciated.

Do dealers wax your new car prior to delivering it?
If so, I think I should tell them not to and do it myself of have it done by a detail shop.

Dont be dumpin' the clutch at 5,000rpms.
No full throttle starts.
Dont be grinding the gears
No bad downshifts.

You follow those and you will be set.

Follow your owner's manual. Be careful to check to see if GM says anything about when to switch to synthetic oil (I wouldn't - I have seen NO evidence that synthetics are cost effective, in fact the evidence I've seen is quite the contrary). The rings should seat before switching and engines vary as to when this occurs - early small block Chevy motors often didn't fully seat their rings until 10K+ miles.
