Well, tonight some P-O-S busted into three of our cars at my work parking lot; one being mine. We caught him breaking into his third car and chased him but lost him. The local cops did catch the kid a short time later, and recovered most of the stolen articles, but not all. Will have to search the area in the morning to find the rest of it.
Anyways, the main point is that now Shadow is in my garage full of broken glass (the passenger window). I'll have to call the insurance company in the morning.
I've never had this happen before and I'm not sure where to go to get the window taken care of. Do the 'windshield' companies also fix side windows? DO I take it to a GM dealer? Is there anything that can 'go wrong' when they put in the new window?

Not sure if anyone has any experience in this, but if you do, I'd like some pointers. Thanks.

Yes, windshield companies will do all glass. They will probably have to order it though. Call and check availability.

Or you can gef the quotes and have them cut you a check and do it yourself. Not hard to do. Sourceone on ebay sales them pretty cheap.

People can be stoopid. Kind of wish you'd have caught him. I remember my brother in law telling me about a kid hot wiring a car he had in his front yard up for sale. He's eating lunch when he heard it start so ran out, jumped into another car and chased him. Kid ran it off the road, doing about 3 grand in damage. Took a while for the police to show up on in the sticks. Turned out to be the son of a judge so he knew the kid wouldn't be prosecuted. I asked him if he beat about 3 grand out of him and all he said was . . .

"pretty close to that."

Well, I had the window fixed yesterday; $221 out of pocket. (My deductible was $250.)
Took the car in later for insurance appraisal and they valued the total damage at $672, so they cut me a check for $422.

My top turned out NOT to be damaged as I had originally thought. What I thought were glass shards were a few drops of tree resin that had the same shine and color as the glass.

I still have the one hammer ding just under the passenger window, but it's not really noticeable unless you're right on top of it. Since I already have two other door/shopping cart dings already, and about 5-7 hail dings on the hood and rear deck, I don't think one more blemish is going to hurt that much.

Maybe I'll use the 'bonus' money to get my brakes looked at (all original; 44k miles, 5 1/2 years of city driving). I'm sure it won't be hardly enough money to cover new ones, though.

That sucks. Good thing your comprehensive deductible was only 250. some have it set at 1000. i have 50 on the wifes and 250 on the sols. we had a small tornado rip thru the parking lot at work several years ago and I lost a windshield and the front drivers side window. the windshield place did a great job. I learned my lesson the hard way to never leave anything in plain sight in your car and I never lock it. glad it didn't turn out worse for you.

I've had great results recently with Centric OEM replacement rotors and pads on my GM sedan and truck. When it's time, I'll put them on my Solstice too.

For less than $300, you should be able to put all new parts, front and back, on your Solstice.
