After reading several replies to this problem, I used a heavy gague coat hanger (not the thin white ones from dry cleaners) bent 1 inch from the end to a 90 degree angle, carefully inserted into buttress release latch assembly, pulled towards the middle, and the buttress popped open ! Temporary fix only. The buttress already has a heavy spring that flips it back when you activate the remote control latch release. What I don't understand is how does this metal wire cable behind the buttress release the bolt from spring assembly in the trunk hood ?
