I sat in a base today. This one actually. Preowned-Inventory Crain Buick GMC Conway Arkansas

And at 6ft3 I was not comfortable.
Since it was a base model, is it possible that the power seats (which it did NOT have) can go lower then the base manual seats?
Do the base seats even have a way to lower and raise themselves?

What is the deal with that ad? They show white and black cars, mention GXP in the verbage, etc. If that mileage is really under 40,000 that is a great price even if it is an NA coupe. But that ad really sucks.

This has been addressed before, I do not remember what the answer to your question is BUT I do have something to offer. . . .:agree:

The seat bottom cushion is very easy to access. You can actually get an inch or two of added room - in effect lowering the seat height, by modifying the seat bottom cushion.

I have replaced the seat covers on Punisher a couple of times and its very easy to do. Pull the seats, 4 mounting points and if equipped with a motor, one connector. Pull the seat out of the car and put it on the bench. remove the seat back - a couple of fasteners . . then flip the seat bottom over, release the tension loaded "hooks" and lift the seat cover off. Then you can go to work on the bottom cushion and reshape it to fit your desires.

Or you can just ship the seat bottom direct to Joe at JPM, tell him how much added height you want and he will do the work for you. The advantage of this method is he will rework the bottom seat cover so it will actually fit the shorter seat cushion. :grouphug:

I have an 06 base without power seats and a loaded 08 with power seats and the 06 sits the same as the 08 on the lowest setting. it only goes higher, not any lower. I have noticed that it I move the seat forward 1 click and adjust the seat back, it actually gives you more room that way.

Don't forget that when you first sit in a new car you are usually significnatly higher than when you are used to it and relax into the seat.

You can also lower the seat as far as it goes, then move it forward a few clicks and recline the seat back right against the rear bulkhead to gain some more headroom. And yes, I have several cars with limited head room. My lowest has a roof line a full 7" lower than the Solstice.

Finally took power vs non-power measurements.

Measurements were taken at center point (F&R) of bottom seat cushion, with both seats pushed back as far as they'd go.

1st 1000, 06 (non power)
Front seat cushion height 7 inches (measurement from floor mat to top of front cushion top seam). Bottom rear seat cushion height 5 inches (measurement from top of rear seat seam to bottom of rear carpet).

09 GXP (seat was power lowered down as far as it would go)
Front seat cushion height 8 inches (measurement from floor mat to to of front cushion top seam). Bottom rear seat cushion height 5 inches (measurement from top of rear seat seam to bottom of rear carpet).

Front cushion on the 06 may have been lower simplt due to use - sounds like there is no significant difference.

Power seat button is on the front of the seat. Reach down.. between your legs... The power seat button on my 2009 Coupe keeps the storage pocket on the front of the seat from opening fully. That's where it's at.

I have a tall upper body and I need the seat all the way down in my coupe. My convertible had less headroom so I needed to slide the seat forward and lean seat back to accommodate my melon. I remember sitting in a Solstice at the Toronto Car Show years ago where they had the seat all the way up. I wonder how many sales they lost because people couldn't fit. I told salesman at show that seat was all the way up and he didn't know there was an adjustment(or care)!
