Hope all is well its been about 2 months having my 2006 solstice now and still loving it. Was thinking the other day maybe ill put my car in car shows. Does anyone do this? If so advice? Am I crazy? What division do you put it in? What shows do you attend? how do you find local shows? Any info would be good.

Thanks slim

I have won awards with my stock 06. I usually enter either the sports car class or production 1990-present day.

rob has some good suggestions. Ask around, when you see a classic car at a store or gas station or pull up next to one ask the driver. When I tried to live in the Cleveland, Ohio a few years ago, they have a web site called Cruisin Times which list all the local cruises. At least 10 to 12 cruises EVERY day of the week this time of year, car cruise heaven! One of my favorites is the one in Solon, Ohio. 400 to 450 cars on Tuesday nights. They have a different theme every week. Like Olds, Buick, and Pontiac night, those cars park in the 1st 3 rows and are judged. Vickchicks Fresh coupe has trophied there. Gasser and Mopar nights are pretty crazy. Going up to visit in a couple of weeks.

Slim you can do like Rob says or just google the area of NC you want to check out . Thats all I ever do . At the shows mostClubs or other people put flyers in the cars for up coming events. As far as how to enter like road race ace said sports car, late model and Stock if it is all original. Have Fun

Slim, check out rocknrod.com for your area. Other cruise sights in your area also on there. Also, next month if you're not to far from Bryson City
North Carolina, 28713, that should be KAPPA city on the 23rd and 24th of August.

Slim some good posts and as usual rob and jeff have some good leads. My question to you is are you looking to enter your car in a show for a trophy or do you just want people to see your car.If it's the latter your best bet is a cruise in .I live in the Cleveland area and during the summer we have a cruise in somewhere almost every night of the week.and every year the misses and me make it up to the Detriot area for the Woodward Dream Cruise( google it ). You get 30000 cars an estimated 1 million people for a great day of cars and people. One of the host cities,it runs through 8,is Pontiac and they always have a large contingent of Pontiac owners there.I'm a detail freak and every year I try to add to my car just for this event .I love the recognition the Solstice gets from fellow enthusiasts and to be honest with you I could care less about a trophy.

I entered the Coupe in an All Pontiac show last year under the Late Models, and won 1st Place. All I really wanted to do was show the Pontiac folks what a rare Solstice Coupe looked like. Didn't expect to win anything. Nice surprise!
Otherwise we just like showing them to people who have no idea that Pontiac even made a Solstice Coupe or of all things SATURN made a Sports Car!? Wow!
Have fun with whatever you choose!!

I go to one of the Saturday night shows in Phoenix, and my Solstice gets yawns. My Transformer Camaro gets lots of attention, so usually I take it. The local Solstice club is only interested in driving somewhere to get food. No shows, so the Saturday night one is about it.

Yesterday, took my 09 coupe(NA) to a car show sponsored by a Chevy dealership. Had about 80 cars show up. The owner of the dealership said this was the first coupe he has seen. Then later on we had a short cruise ( with a police escort) to a local park where there were live bands playing. We even had a special parking area for our cars.

so there is a car show at a local restaurant this Saturday. I am thinking about going.. what should I use to clean off my dirty engine? any suggestions? It seems like a local show probably not much pressure. Managers choice, best muscle car and another category.

I use Turtle wax or McGuire's detailer. Works great. Use some micro fiber towels....take several. Get every area you can reach, into the corners.

I use DP degreaser to clean and DP detailer to make it purdy. I'm sure you'd get good results with Cit's suggestions above. Just never use high pressure under the hood.

A degreaser will work fine there, Slim. Just make sure to rinse well and dry down with microfiber. Using the detailer spray will really make it pop. Lemme find a thread on a friends' Miata I did this on...
