Hey guys I'm a new '07 GXP owner and I have a question. Been perusing the forums and seems I read somewhere that the cluster can be removed w/o removing the boomerang. That it can be wiggled out through the tunnel cutout. Anyone have any idea as to the validity of this? Also should battery be disconnected during this procedure? Thanks in advance for any input.

Having had my cluster in and out a number of times (and boomerang off even more times), this is just my opinion:

You could remove the faceplate 'glass' through the front and replace the gauge faces that way, but I'm thinking that removing the whole cluster with the boomerang in place would be pretty darn difficult. Apart from anything else, getting the screws out and back in would be, let's say "frustrating"! It's difficult enough, even with the boomerang off.

I think it's actually easier to remove the boomerang to remove the cluster, than try to do it the 'easy' way.

I have had mine out several times. It is possible to get it out without removing the boomerang. It is not easy though

Also, should battery be disconnected during this procedure?

Would probably be a good idea to disconnect before digging into the dashboard.
