These "crooks" had me halfway through a wire transfer to buy a Solstice when they decided to call me back and tell me that I would have to pay an extra $3000 over our agreed upon price (including itemized fees!) because I am out of state (which they clearly knew before quoting).

After calling the owner to discuss this, they damn near accused me of be unscrupulous and of "abusing the system" and decided they just weren't going to sell me the car because (horrors!) I might resell it someday.

I am trying to buy a car for my wife. GM Buy Power is an excellent tool that you would think dealers would enjoy their customers using to find the car they want to buy. I know this because half of the 8 cars I've purchased in the last 10 years have been from out of my area.

I am sorry for you folks in the Chicago area if this is the type of dealerships you have to deal with. :brentil:

I second that motion Re: VIN: 147 Caveat Emptor!!!!

Good move - VIN :147 was in horrible shape. I was all set to take delivery of this vehicle in Sept. However, the mysterious paint contained scratches and swirls. In addition, the front wheel well had an ornage hue to it. I inquired what Haggerty Pontiac would do about this problem. Unfortunately, Haggerty Pontiac said that's how it comes...take it or leave it. Well, I left it there, never looked back. Why pay $24,700 for a car that is less than perfect? A new car should be in pristine conditon. To top it off, they added Xm radio to this car which I never ordered. Sounds fishy to me. Caveat emptor to the poor sap that purchases Vin :147. I heard its already sold.

Check out Brown Pontiac in Saco Maine. They told me they would be selling all their future Sols. at MSRP. And they treat you like Royalty. 1-207-284-4555

Contact Marquardt of Barrington 847-381-2100. They will treat you fairly, with respect and NOT upcharge the cost of the vehicle. I got mine from that dealership and they treated me very well. Tell them Karen with the black Solstice sent you. Ask for Tim H (there are 2 Tim's there). You will be treated well. I put my Solstice on it!!! Karen

I'm all for documenting bad service. Inform GM of their unfair sales tactics, and the BBB. Some might think it's a waste of time, but GM does pay attention if enough folks are complaining about the same business.

Now that's original. An "out of state" fee. What a crock. For $3K, I think I'd tell these idiots I've decided to move within the state.
