I had a '06 that I loved but sold it because of the wind noise behind my left ear with the top up. (Yup I've heard the "leave your top down" solution but I live in Seattle.)

Do the '08's and '09's have the same issue or were mods made to fix this?
The tension adjustment never fixed my issue. I tried EVERYTHING. I added weather seals. I tried stuffing towels in the back to deaden the noise. Nothing worked. I'd love to get another Solstice if anyone ever figured out what was causing the problem. I chalked it up to a lousy design.

I have an 07, but mine has the insulating liner on the inside, I don't see any of the top framework. I believe the liner became standard in the later years. I have no noise issues.

Did you adjust the windows?

The window travel and cant are adjustable to make sure that they seal well and do not come into contact with the fabric top.

I have wind noise on the driver's side of my car and none on the passanger side. If you check the fit of the window against the rubber seal around the curved top rear of the windows you can see that the passanger side window is adjusted such that it interfaces with the rubber much more tightly. It is on my list to adjust the drivers side window so it seals better as well.

Another consideration is that many 06s lacked the acoustic liner which makes noise transmittal through the canvas much greater.

and here is the procedure

Thanks so much guys. The wind noise was coming from the top not the window.
I'm excited to learn of the insulating liner. Worth a try. Again my issue is not "road noise" but an air "leak" in the top that I discerned was coming from behind my left ear.
So to be clear, few / none of the '08 and '09 folks have not complained about wind noise with the top up to your knowledge?

My 06 had a good amount of wind noise but my 08 is a little quieter. Yes, there is still wind noise but it is no where near as bad.

None should experience wind noise around the windows if properly adjusted

The acoustic liner in our 08 Sky makes it very quiet for a soft top. You can still hear outside noises but no "wind noise" as in leaking seals or the like.

We had one member who actually added an acoustic liner to his top and described it in his thread. Interesting reading.

I forgot to snap down one of the buttresses. That lasted about 100 yards. The wind noise was very obnoxious. Makes me wonder if that is where my current wind noise comes from. My windows appear to be sealed very well. I pushed on the rubber while driving and no change in the noise.

As a test, try pulling the velcro apart on the buttress and stuffing that area with a rag then resealing it. See if that has any impact.

On my wind noise, the drivers door is fully sealed, but when at speed, the wind creates a low pressure area on the window sucking it outward slightly. The resultant very slight movement of the window allows the seal between the window and the rubber seal on the top to admit a lot of wind noise.

On our 08, the contact patch is more pronounce and deeper and there is no wind noise around the windows.

thanks so much, Rob. BTW have you ever heard of any options for covering the large amount of hard passenger side dash plastic with leather or some other covering?

Rob,
I can't tell you how much I appreciate your help and responsiveness. Unfortunately none of the pics that you sent came through. My email address is [email protected] if you can send any of the passenger side dash leather covering work that JPM has done.
