In the 24 years since the Great State of Florida saw fit to give me a driver's license, I've owned 11 vehicles, and I've named every one of them...several had names not suitable to repeat on a family forum, but that's a different story.

I was just wondering if anybody out is planning on naming their Solstice, and if so, what?

I think I'll call mine "Mrs. Jones" in honor of the old R&B classic song by Billy Paul......cause, We'll Have A Thing Goin' On

NO......I don't name my cars. I've always associated named cars with cars that have problems. My dad once owned an old station wagon named "Betsy". At least that what he called that piece of junk. I would hate driving with him in that wreck. It use to run hot every 45 minutes. Sorry, this question brings back terrible childhood memories of an old station wagon that should have never been produced......I think it was a plymouth........ :brentil:

My cars that have had names, always seemed to name themselves.

Had a deep mica green 626 and the name "OZ" just stuck. An 88 Festiva that was never called anything else but "Baby". My red 95 Miata was "Annie" and my Laser Blue 02 is "Baloo".

All the other 18+ cars we've had were just called by model.

Kinda ironic that your pagan car will be "christened".

We called my Dad's 63 Chevy wagon Mertle, as in Mertle the Turtle
Can't say the memories were all bad

I call my 70 Eldorado- Rita
When I had the last Lincoln Convertible I called it- Mother, as so many of my friends would ask 'Are you still driving that big mutha ****** ?'
And the Intrepid I'm driving now is called- Vera.

I always name my cars. They all seem to have some personality, so coming up with names is fairly simple. Owning 4 and 5 cars at a time, it makes it easier to name them than to call out their car models:

To name a few:
'74 Fiat X1/9: Wedgie
'00 Toyota Celica Gt-S: Screamer
'81 Datsun 210 (complete w/ tiger print seat covers, cloth balls around the roof lining, etc): The Pimp Mobile
'01 Ford Focus ZX3: The Egg

I have not named any opf my cars to date, but have been thinking about the Sol as being so special that she should have a name. Thinking about lyrics from my youth - SUZANNE - (.Suzanne takes you down to her place near the river
You can hear the boats go by
You can spend the night beside her
And you know that she's half crazy
But that's why you want to be there
And she feeds you tea and oranges
That come all the way from China
And just when you mean to tell her
That you have no love to give her
Then she gets you on her wavelength
And she lets the river answer
That you've always been her lover
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that she will trust you
For you've touched her perfect body with your mind.
And Jesus was a sailor
When he walked upon the water
And he spent a long time watching
From his lonely wooden tower
And when he knew for certain
Only drowning men could see him
He said "All men will be sailors then
Until the sea shall free them"
But he himself was broken
Long before the sky would open
Forsaken, almost human
He sank beneath your wisdom like a stone
And you want to travel with him
And you want to travel blind
And you think maybe you'll trust him
For he's touched your perfect body with his mind.
Now Suzanne takes your hand
And she leads you to the river
She is wearing rags and feathers
From Salvation Army counters
And the sun pours down like honey
On our lady of the harbour
And she shows you where to look
Among the garbage and the flowers
There are heroes in the seaweed
There are children in the morning
They are leaning out for love
And they will lean that way forever
While Suzanne holds the mirror
And you want to travel with her
And you want to travel blind
And you know that you can trust her
For she's touched your perfect body with her mind

I named a all of my vehicles:

98 Dodge Neon: Happy (It always seemed happy looking to me)
89 Ford F250: Alexander (As in the mighty conqueror)
72 Plymouth Sattelite: Ghost (You see me one second, you don't see me the next)
02 Toyota Tacoma: Brownie (it was Aztec gold, but looked brown to me)
03 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec_V: SERge (pronounced Surge, lots of torque!)
Future Solstice or Sky: I haven't decided yet, I'll have to drive it around and mess with it before I come up with a name

I name my cars but wait until I own them awhile and see what their personality is. My 71 LeMans Sport conv. is named Gypsy Rose Lee after the famous stripper because they both like to take their tops off.
