Friend invited me out to the Flashlight Drags here in SW Pennsylvania today. It's a drag race set up at the county airport. Racing from a light for 1/8th mile. No times or slips or anything, just racing other people and having fun.

Took my stock GXP coupe to see how it would do and I was happy with it. I have a tune on the way so can't wait until next time to try again.

Only other Kappa was a Sky Redline putting 330 hp to the wheels. Raced him once and he laid the smack down on me. He is on Sky Forum under RedSkyWV if you want to check out his car.

Raced a Mustang Mach 1 twice. First run she didn't get off the line good. I got a good jump on her but she caught up and edged me out right at the end. Second race I don't know what she did, I dusted her.

Raced a Jeep Cherokee SRT8 twice as well. Suprisingly we seemed to be matched pretty well. He beat me off the line the first time and edged me out. Second I beat him off the line and edged him out. Generally it seemed like we ran about the same speed all the way down the track.

Overall I think I had a good day and had a lot of fun.

Sounds like it was a good time! Nice work with the SRT8. Those are monsters. I haven't been to the strip for almost a year. I am going tomorrow night. Now I am even more excited. What tune are you doing? That will make your car a lot quicker. I'm curious to see my time comparison. Last year I was gms1, this time I have a tune on e47.

Once you have the tune on there, aside from other upgrades like the HF cat, you can also help your weight some if you're very competitive like me:

Drain washer fluid, = 7 lbs

Our stock performance tires are a bit heavy, a tire of the same size or even 35 series will save you a few pounds per tire (Michelin Pilot Super Sports are shown to be about 3 lbs lighter x 4 = 12lbs)

remove floor mats, plus that little cover at the very rear of the cargo space= 5 lbs.

go to the races with around 1/2 tank of fuel 35-40 lbs.

if you have a soft top, it's about 12 lbs lighter than the magnesium top.

That was all no tune, just stock GXP. My tune came in late so I didn't get it on in time for the drags.

Good stuff to know. I thought about floor mats and the tire pump but didn't do anymore than think about it lol. I raced it with everything like normal and damn near a full tank of gas. Still can't believe I did as good as I did. Next month they are doing it again. I will try doing things to lighten it up along with having the new tune. Should be great then.

Oh I wasn't very clear what is your new tune going to be hpt, trifecta? Edit: noticed another thread you're doing trifecta. Going to be huge difference from stock.

BTW a tune will make your car fly!...I spent the last few weeks dialing in an e47 tune and my times from last year with gms1 to last night dropped ~.8s and I was 11mph+ faster on many runs in the 1/4.
