Death Kart GXP build
Hi guys,
My buddy and I have been wanting to do a 'vettekart/ exoskeleton type build the past couple years and just settled on step 1 of acquiring the car.
We were originally looking for a tired C4 Vette to use for the build, but with their appreciating prices, we started looking other places and ended up getting a good deal on an 07 Solstice GXP with 107k miles on the clock. (I used to own a Saturn Sky with the NA LE5 2.4L that I turbocharged so I was pretty familiar with the cars). Thinking with the cars lightweight and since it is already designed to be a roadster, it may have even better rigidity once hacked up and be lighter than a C4 vette.
We are planning to do the tear down and fabrication over this winter, along with selling all of the unused parts like body panels and interior, and then start on some light modifications to the factory LNF turbo engine to get us through the summer.
Then, beginning in the fall, we will begin building an LS based replacement for the LNF, likely just an junkyard aluminum 5.3L with cam, head gaskets and stud swap of course with a turbo setup
Planning to use the car for general mallarchy, car cruises, car shows, power tour, driving it to work on nice days, burnouts, drag racing, maybe some autocross. Just a cheap, fun toy to enjoy on the cheap.
