Today I ordered SOLO mach CAT & free flo exhaust, and found a shop that will work with Jeff of SOLO on a correct installation. I would like to hear from GXP owners who have such a system. What should I expect in terms of sound and performance? I already have the GMPP tune, and love it. Thanks in advance. Mran Yellow Roadster keeper.

From my experience and reading of others over the years, the high flow cat should allow the GMPP tune to increase RWP by 14 to 18 HP. Its one of the very few hardware mods that is generally accepted to add meaningful horsepower. Good choice.

The Solo exhaust is very high quality and depending on which version you bought, will add a nice sound with little increase in volumn as is on my wife's car up to HOLY CRAP that is loud with the race version.

All sound good. Some are loud and some are REALLY loud.

I like solo. Good stuff.

Just remember, while the mach exhaust is the quietest they offer, it doesn't necessarily mean it is quiet.

As for sound, one man's loud is another's quiet so it is hard to say. But my experience with a HF solo cat and mach exhaust was that it was too loud for me under acceleration, and more so had a notable drone at 50 mph + in cooler weather and the colder it was the worse it was. As in difficult conversation in the cabin with the top up. It is definitely more than a little increase in volume.

I found the issue to be that it was easy for aftermarket exhaust to resonate in the cabin of the car with the top up. So while it wasn't too bad outside the car for the public, the inside resonance was a problem for me.

But again, other people aren't so caring or don't notice so much. I tend to not be into lots of noise.

If/when I do exhaust just a HF cat will be fine with me. Experience has shown the rest of the 2.0 cat back exhaust is not much of a restriction and it will work well even with big power adders.

Which exhaust system did you get? If it's Solo, there's 3 that fit our cars.

You got the mach shorty or the other? let us know how you like it and if you will, please post some sound clips. If you are not sure how, I'm sure the ghost can help as he has generously posted some clips for us over the last couple days.

HF Solo Cat and Mach Exhaust

I have HF Solo Cat and Mach Exhaust and it is not to load. Sounds real good and you can still carry on a conversation. You will be glad you bought it!

Thanks for the inputs. The new CAT and mach exhausr (not thr shorty) should be installed in a week or to. Will advise how it sounds and feels. Have my fingers crossed.
Here's a sound clip of my car with the Free Flow Cat and Mach Shorty to give you an idea. Need a good sound system on your computer or good ear phones to get the proper idea.

You have to go for emissions testing? I'd love to see how the cat does if you do.

Thanks Topdown. I like that. sounds like it gives it a bit lower tone. I'll have to just start saving my pennies and bite the bullet and get the combo.

That is a really nice hood. Custom? Are the vents functional or just for show?

You know anything about emissions testing here in TX? I'm thinking of doing the same as you, but I am a bit scared of failing inspection and then having to swap the old cat in. Waste of time/money.
