Forgive my lack of knowledge, but I just noticed that the '06 front doesn't have the honey comb mesh around the fog lights like our '08. That is so much a cleaner look then the other years with the mesh. Kinda wish our had that clean look like that. I always thought people were putting on after market front fascias:lol:

I didn't do too much research before I bought the 06 and once I got on the forum and started looking around, I saw the GXP grill and thought it looked much better as well.

All 2.4 N/A cars of all years came without the front brake vent entry port at the fog/turn signal lights in the front bumper. The front bumper covers are interchangeable between all years and models and there are several owners who have removed the non vented front bumpers and replaced them with vented (GXP) bumper covers.

If you want the "cleaner" look, by all means find yourself a bumper cover and install it.

Ohhh, I'm just now paying attention here. McFly, McFly. You like the NA bumper better than the GXP version. still, if you don't drive it any differently than you do the NA then I don't see where the extra cooling would be necessary. If you do decide to swap your GXP bumper for an NA bumper, I'm sure you would have several takers here.

I've seen that before and it does look sharp but I thought the grills were more visable than that. Maybe it's the angle and the sunlight throwing it off. Either way dude, that's a sharp ride. with it all blacked out like that, have you considered painting the windshield frame? but I guess if you did then the headlights might stick out by themselves so with that said, I'd probably leave it like it is.

They come with silver mesh grills, but those suck, I replaced them with aftermarket powder coated black ones. I plan on adding the SCCA decal to the side front hood above the fender and my decals are silver and red so I am keeping the "A" pillar silver for that reason.

My headlights won't be chrome forever, I am working on some custom ones. They will be black and with silver bezels/shrouds around the projectors soon. It will look like my AVATAR when I'm done. All in due time.

GOTCHA. cool that's gonna rock. I'd like to get some fenders and do something to the hood. I had a floor mat sitting on mine and it was about in the middle and it resembled a new vette hood. at a glance, it was pretty cool. Good luck on all the progress. If you are anything like me, you have a dozen projects going on at the moment and something else always seems to pop up. have a good new years.

I also believe that the GXP has a "lower" grill below the 2 main mesh openings. This is for the intercooler as well. Most guys have pinched them shut on curbs anyway....LOL. So that's probably another reason not many people realize the lower grill is there either.

I never really looked at the difference between the two until today when I had them both on the screen side by side. I definitely now like the GXP more. I'm learning more everyday I'm on here:thumbs:

I'm not sure this is 100% accurate: I don't think the NA/2.4 cover will fit over the OEM charge air cooler on a 2.0, at least not without modification of the cover. I believe that the GXP cover was designed to allow slightly more clearance for these components (regardless of any airflow differences and brake cooling). I didn't find a thread to confirm this, though.

Putting the 2.4 bumper on a GXP will block the inter cooler also on the front. That's why they have that extra space for more ventilation. That piece allot of people seem to break and rub against stuff in the center of the bumper.

If air flow was a problem with the 2.4 bumper, we would be seeing a history of overheated modified 2.4's - Turbo or Supercharged. That has not been the case. I changed my bumper several years after I supercharged, and the resulting temperature reduction was next to nothing.

In fact, the intercooler pulls its air from below the bumper , using deflected air from the cars underside.
