The following measurements were taken by dividing the number of gallons it took to fill-up the Sol divided by the trip odometer reading (reset to 0 after each fillup). DIC readings were very close to my calculations. All driving was city driving. My Sol, as of today, has about 970 miles. So, mileage is improving with time. I am sure it will reach a steady state soon. Any others have observed this?

12/16/05: Drove off the lot!
12/21/05: 20.0 MPG
12/27/05: 21.2 MPG
12/31/05: 22.7 MPG
01/03/06: 23.8 MPG

Yes. The more miles, the better mileage. Mine actually got a bit better after the first oil change.

Definitely- for the first few days after delivery it went from 18.2 to 21 MPG, over the road trip it rose to 24.8, now after a week of mixed city and highway miles it's sitting at 24.5, with almost 1600 miles.

I'm glad you all do this, cause I forget to

with regard to the MSM, everyone averaged 20mph in city, I was getting 12mph, guess I liked pressing the pedal

I don't think I wanna know what I'm getting in the Sol, might cut into my fun by knowing how much $$$ I'm wasting with my lead food

I have been using https://www.fueleconomy.gov to calculate my MPG for me:

1/2..............788...........5.856.......26.13....2.40.....10.....90

My Average MPG = 21 (based on the above info)

I'm with MOMsSOL. I use the Fuel Economy.gov. I've only filled up three times, one time for 90% Interstate [about 28 MPG] the other two with an average speed of 18 miles an hour and about 20 MPG. My MPG actual is pretty on line with the DIC calculations.

I was just thinking about starting this very thread!

I picked up my car with 14 miles on. The average speed read 20mph and 10 mpg.

Today I am at 235 miles and ready for a fill up.
The average speed has only climbed to 25 mph and 19.9 mpg.

It has been rainy and cold everyday after I picked up the car and I realized that I have had the defrost on the whole time to keep the windows clear. That really should impact the MPG.

But what bummed me out was I was watching the fuel left count down 80…70…60 then it switched to low fuel warning…. Damn I want to see it count down to 1.

That's IF you see the light

and IF you hear the bell

You MIGHT be able to get to a station.

Check this thread to see who DIDN'T see or hear:

.

And thanks, MomsSol, for that excellent post. We need more Forum members to get involved in this free website to track your mileage. It combines the figures from all those Solstice owners giving their data to compute the average for that type of vehicle. So please join:

I stopped and got gas this morning. The DIC switched to Distance remaining LOW at 50m left. the gauage was on empty and about 1/2 mile from the station the light came on and the chime went off.

I had 293 miles and pumped 12.1 gal.

So from reading other threads I would guess I have about 30 miles to find a gas station when the light goes on.

Me too ... my Z3 would count all the way down and then after you pushed it past 1, you'd get "---" on the display for a while. (Yeah, I had to play chicken with the gas guage every now and then just to see how accurate it was.) Generally, you could still get a few miles out of it that way. But it did catch me offguard twice by running out at 5 or 10. I think it was when I was driving at high speeds or something and using more gas than my average accounted for.

I also believe that I've seen some inconsistent timing of the gas warning light on the Solstice. Regardless, I won't be playing any games to see when it runs out on this car anytime soon.

Great Mileage

For my second tank full that took me to 500 miles on the car, I got 28.9 MPG. Went 344 miles and took 11.9 gallons. It was about 50-50 as far as city, highway.

Don't know if it is my driving style or maybe the fact that I live 6 feet above sea level and get lots of air down low in Fla.

1200 Miles in two weeks - Average MPG 25!

Well, I have been spending a bit of time in T-Rouge. Just got back from a round trip of 375 miles, only the last 20 with the top down. WONDERFUL. This car performs. I hear no "clunks" as far as I can tell and any "rattle" is usually a loose piece of cargo or stuff poorly stored.

Love it!

It's nice to see there are people out there who spend time gathering this sort of information, because someone has to do it. :) And since this is a brand new car, it's nice to see what people are getting. :)

But no offense intended, you're all nuts.

It's nice to know "in general" what your personal car gets, like "I get about 20 to 25 mph." But to keep records on a tank by tank basis is loopy. :willy: Who really cares? Are you going to sell it when it goes from an average of 24.7 to 23.9? I doubt it. Even checking this stat every few months is an excessive waste of time because in the end it doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Especially on a car like the Solstice, because I seriously doubt anyone bought this car due to good gas mileage (or didn't buy it due to bad gas mileage).

I guess everyone's anal about something, and this is not one of them for me.

RODEO, perhaps you didn't notice in the specifications.

The 2006 Pontiac Solstice comes with a five-speed standard transmission.

Now, perhaps you thought it was an automatic transmission, so you never shift gears. You gotta get out of first, dude! :leaving:

Seriously, THIRTEEN MPG? I've gotten down to 19, but 13? :(

Like he says Gizmo he is in the city, so he has no need to get out of first gear. He's only going from this stop light to the next.......wait for every body else to get there and then race to the next one.

Bonzo, I certainly am not anal about the gas mileage, but I DID buy this car rather than one of the other convertibles on the market because I hoped it would get better gas mileage. ;) That was one of my factors, although its looks, style, handling, Pontiac - made-in-USA, etc were others.

I guess going from a Yukon on these 370+ trips to this car and filling up for $23.00 rather than $45.00 just gets me all excited :willy: that I thought I'd tell you about it.

I'm just glad Bonzo didn't call ME anal! That just lights my fuse!

Wait a minute, maybe he DID call me anal. I keep track of my mileage every fillup. OK, I guess it's not a BAD thing to be anal. I'm proud of it.

Sorry, NH Solstice, I didn't realize you meant that as a compliment! :)

Actually, NH Solstice and I are friends, so this "anal" crap (ugh, I shouldn't use those words together, should I?) is just a joke between us, something to laugh at. Right, NH Solstice? :)
