Well I had the meeting with the engineer and got to drive an Envious Sol. It sure was alot of fun and I'm not sure what to write about that hasn't been posted by other drivers but I did learn about a few of the delays. They had a problem with a loud knock when shifting from 1st to 2nd that they have fixed and that now they are trying to get the production cars to pass the 8 minute water test. Well I won't post all my pics but I will show me in there driving because I just want to brag. :glol: well if there's any questions I'd love to answer them.

Thanks for the pictures! What did you think of the power/acceleration? Did your left leg have enough room to work the clutch; did it clear the steering wheel? It seems some taller people have trouble with left leg room when operating the clutch. Also what is your inseam?

6'2" and i wear a 34" inseam 210lbs or so for those wondering about fit the only fit problem I found was looking at traffic lights as tall as I am it was easier to lean back and look over the windshield. Really no problem at all. I put the top up and had a good couple inches of headroom and was comfortable. I drove with barefoot because flip flops are definitely NOT recommended. Power was great for the small car, as long as you dont expect neck-snapping corvette like power. I'm TOTALLY satisfied with the power. It spun in 1st and 2nd and chirped third. It was GREAT. Really didnt notice any problem with leg room. In fact I really could've scooted the seat up some and still been comfortable.

Here are a few more.... this car is SOOO gorgeous in person. I'd also like to add that in persone it does NOT looks tiny like a miata. That was one major thing I was worried about.

I'm still interested in getting a concept of the size. I'm glad it's not Miata size. Is it more Boxster size?

not alot of boxter experience but the wideness of it gives it a good presence and from what I remember yeah i think that could be an ok comparison

One of my best friends has a Boxster which I looked over fairly closely on Wednesday last week. I saw a Miata same day and thought it was really small. Thanks, you lucky dog. You have gotten to drive one. I expect the first Solstice I see will be when my dealer says, "There it is!" :yesnod:

What's the 8 minute water test? Hit it with a hose, or a heavy downpour, for 8 minutes?
Hey, I don't mind water that much and would happily take a car that failed the water test, if it meant getting one in September rather than November.

8 min watertest.

The 8 minute watertest is a booth similar to a carwash. It has about 120 water nozzles that point to the car from ALL angles. Top , sides and underneath.
It will pump about 10,000 gallons of water a minute at around 180 PSI.
You drive the car inside and it will start spraying. The inspector will check the interior for waterleaks. when it is done, they pull it out and check the trunk, doors, floor for leaks.
If any are found, they are repaired and they drive it back in and recheck for 8 min.

Wow, hopefully there aren't many leaks. That could get time consuming!
