I have only a general understanding of 'Competitive Mode.' Anyone who has more information about this please chime in.

The GXP and Sky Redline have these handling choices:

1. Hit the button once and you get Traction OFF. I assume this means the ESC (vehicle stability control) is still fully on?

2. Hold the button for five seconds and you get Traction OFF and ESC OFF.

3. Hit the button twice, quickly, and you get Competitive Mode. This is the same as Traction OFF, but I assume it also changes the threshold for ESC intervention. Is that right? It's not written anywhere.

4. Competitive mode also enables Launch Control and No-lift shifting for the manuals. Does it do anything else for the automatics? Changes shift maps, for example?

Would really appreciate more information on this.

1. Yes.
2. Yes.
3. Yes. It will allow some car movement but not a whole lot.

4. NLS is only part of the GMPP tune with a manual. And it works in any mode.

Only the GMPP tune enables this?
Is it something a HPTuner can do?

ok, maybe I should know this... but I do not...

If I put the car in competitive mode, will it stay there
after I shut the car off, and 3 hours later turn it back on ?

Hptuners can't enable this feature, but you can write a gmpp tune to your ecm.

Nope, it gets reset back to traction/stability on.

For those of you with the Trifecta tune: I thought turning on competitive mode was how you enabled that tune. Am I not doing it right?

With the Trifecta tune, it depends on how Vince set it up. On my car, turning off the cruise turns on my performance tune.
And assuming that cruise is always off, does that mean that the tune is always on?

On my car, yes.

Solrunman actually wrote it kinda backwards. Turning cruise On turns Off the tune.

Thanks - does the display flash anything special when the tune is engaged?
No.

the way I tested it - with cruise button engaged, my PSI maxes at around 16-17.

With the button dis-engaged, my PSI maxes at around 22-23.

Competitive Mode is what I drive my Solstice with almost 100% of the time. It will turn off traction control (allow you to spin tires in a straight line) and Partial disengage the ESC (Stability). This allows you to drift or get the car sideways but not completely. It will save your a$$ if you lose control of the car because the ESC (Stability) is still partially engaged. Hold the traction control button for more than 5 seconds will turn everything off ESC and Traction Control, I would not recommend this unless you are a drift king or not on a public road.

My Corvette Grand Sport has the same traction control sequence (Traction OFF, Competitive Mode, and ESC OFF) after a few laps at a road course I took the ESC completely off, was a blast. But that is the only time I would do it, tires are warm and nothing to run into but grass.

Trifecta Budget tune also lets you No Lift Shift if you have a 5spd.

Hi all - I need some help here. I have an '07 GXP Auto and I ordered the Trifecta budget tune. The installation instructions said there should be a separate box to select to re-program the tranny too, but it did not show up when I installed the tune.

My concern is that if the tranny has not be re-programmed, the torque-learn down feature will eventually rob me of all gains I have seen. I have contacted WOT-Tuning multiple times about this, but they don't respond. Can anyone help me out on this? I need to send the cable back soon but want to make sure I'm finished with all I need to do first. Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, the budget tune does NOT come with ANY after purchase technical assistance. I have always found Vince to be very responsive to the phone, e-mails, and their message board/blog.

Thanks - but I'm not seeking any real 'technical assistance'. I just want to verify I got everything I was supposed to. The instructions indicated I should have a separate tune for the tranny, but I didn't. Should I have gotten one? I'm not asking for anything unreasonable, just plain ordinary customer service.

You seen this note on Trifecta's website, right:

UPDATE (06/21/12) Phones, moving, etc.

Trifecta has been busy making a move to their new location! At this time, we're also rolling out our new phone support via Weller OBD Tuning, Inc. We've updated the phone number on our site so when you call Trifecta, you'll be routed to a specialist at WOT-Tuning.

Might be the problem.

Trifecta doesn't do any specific tranny tuning is what vince said. With our cars it's not an option. My car did NOT learn down and the tunes been on there for quite a while. Vince is usually pretty darn responsive even for those of us who bought the budget tune so if he's not responding I'd say it's related to something going on (like posted above).
