I had my mechanic install the Curt hitch #11119 as recommended in the sticky on the top of this forum, but now my 2006 Solstice (base) makes a very loud rattling noise from the rear of the car when idling and compression braking (I don't compression brake ever, but I did some tests and shifting into 2nd at 30 mph and putting the car in gear made the most unholy rattling noise). It is very loud and intrusive, and I cannot imagine that anyone would be willing to live with this. Additionally, and less bothersome, is that it creaks when I make turns at low speed. This is all with nothing attached to the receiver.

Has anyone had experience with this or know what went wrong?

It sounds like the hitch is contacting the muffler.

After I installed my Curt hitch on my 2.4 I had a bit if a knock over bumpy roads. One of the hanger brackets was contacting the hitch. I heated the bracket and bent it in a little. Problem solved.

Yep - this happened to me too... I tightened things up, and added some rudder-ish padding...
