$24,205....everything except:

US9 AM/FM Radio w/6-Disc Cd Changer w/MP3 Player $495.00
UE1 OnStar System $695.00
QF8 18" Polished Aluminum Wheels $495.00
Smokers package (yuck) $40

I thought hard about the XM and Monsoon options. I have a Sirius receiver I could use, but I thought get the XM since I won't have to deal with ancillary equipment hanging out in the cock pit. I love commerical free radio!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Monsoon, I figured why not....

The only options I didn't get are:

-6 disk
-OnStar
-xm

The two options I am currently getting but are potentially on the chopping block are:

-Polished wheels
-MP3 radio

As for the wheels, can someone convince me one way or the other? I've heard they are lighter by a couple/few pounds each? If that is true, I think the expense is justifiable, if the weigh roughly the same, then I'm not as convinced. Polished do look better IMHO.

For radios, why does it cost $200 for MP3 capability? I wonder if there are any other differences?

The chrome wheels are few pounds heavier not polished alum (according to s-man). Polished alum is good deal for $500. Chrome isn't offered until the fall of '05, polished alum offered now.

It's my jubilee year, and my bimmer's 15 years old. I've calculated my expense somewhere around $23,500, but if I can get the GM discount (retired employee in the family) I'll add some more goodies, like a side car for the packages.

However,
There could be a big problem with the hype surrounding this car and that's when the dealer's happy eyeballs see an immediate internet response and jack you $15k over sticker. It happened with Ford's Thunderbird and Chevy's SSR.

Maybe I'm dumb but I'm going with the standard radio. I also want chrome wheels so it is probably not a good idea to get the polished aluminum, but I just can't see the painted wheels on this car. If I miss out on the 1000, I'll just wait until next spring and order a regular allocation with the chrome wheels and perhaps the yellow color will be available by then as well.

There is really interesting. GM is selling car for under 20k and everybody want to buy it for 23k-25k - this is 15-25% more that GM wants it. I guess this is good marketing from GM side?

Radio?

Do you just get a standard radio/cd player if you do not order the mp-3 upgrade? Don't really need mp-3 add and if that's 195 I can use that somewhere else.
