When I arrived home a few nights ago my Solstice would not release the key. It stayed in the acc position. I wiggled the wheel and the shifter (auto) several times with no luck, so I assumed a switch failure, turned off the lights, hooked up the battery tender, and made an appt for the next day. When I got to the dealer the key came out like normal. Dealer, Quebedeaux Buick, ran the diagnostics and found nothing except low cranking power from the battery. Since the battery was just one year old I declined their offer of replacing it and took Solly back to Firestone for a battery replacement under warranty. No trouble since. I'll keep you posted.

BTW, Q Buick performed the passenger seat sensor recall while I was there. They actually had the part in stock.

You have an automatic. You need electrical power to release the key-lock solenoid (is my understanding),

That is correct. I was surprised because there were no other signs of a weak battery.
