Just a curious question

I was wondering, being a relatively new forum member and Solstice owner, a question for the long term members and owners. Does there seem to be an uptick of new owners to the kappa world, as previous owners sell their beloved cars due to lack of use or other reasons. New blood is always a good thing as we and the cars age. I am just wondering if it is changing more now than in the past. The wealth of knowledge and valuable assistance provided on this forum surpasses numerous other forums by far, that I have belonged to over the decades. For you forum veterans, so much and so many of the questions posed, I am sure you have answered dozens of time before. I thank you each and every one, for helping us new people with a great vehicle, that most people do not know much about. The kappa will be around a long time, as it is an exceptional platform of limited supply. Its desirability will only increase as time moves on.

I dont know but a few days ago I pased a yeller solstice in my neiborhood that Ive never seen before.
There has been a relatively steady turnover of Kappa ownership since the cars were introduced, and I have not seen anything that definitively shows a recent increase.

New forum registrations have been relatively constant for the last several years, and that is consistent with steady turnover of ownership. Forum activity has increased slowly over the past three years, but it is difficult to correlate that to anything else.

I think the perception of increased turnover is accurate. The increase in used car prices has been steep--though that's expected to die down soon--but lots of owners who were ready to move on decided to get a good price while the market was rising.

New blood is needed and welcome, as it is enthusiasm that moves these cars.

Possibility that "savvy" buyers wait until summer/late summer to buy. Convertibles conceivably sell for higher prices in the spring when people are looking forward to summer.

If you look at the link to the bring a trailer website it shows the vehicles that have listed and sold on their website since 2018. Now I know the website has gained popularity but that would not account for all of what is seen in the graph.

1/18 -13/19: 2 cars
1/19 - 1/20: 10 cars
1/20 - 1/21: 3 cars
1/21 - 1/22: 26 cars
1/22 - current: 19 cars

Looking at NB Mazda Miata's

1/18 - 1/19: 17
1/19 - 1/20: 32
1/20 - 1/21: 34
1/21 - 1/22: 76
1/22 - current: 49

if you want fluff and instant gratification, you go to Facebook groups. There are several for Kappas.
It is easy to share photos. FB works well with cell phones.

If you want answers to technical stuff , you come here. All of the history of the forum, since late 2005 I think, is available to
you for searching via Google. It is a wonderful thing.

plus, we have chickenwire ! :D
