Kerrville ‘14 will be February 7th - 9th. So, make your plans to drive the best roads in the most scenic area of Texas. For those that don't know, the 3 Sisters area is a technical course and even at slower (Tour) speeds, is not a Sunday drive in the park. It is a very challenging and fun drive due to the length and many twisty sections. The Kerrville Run is the full length version of the 3 Sisters Run that was offered for the Austin 2011 Nationals. Lunch for the run will be at the Bent Rim Grill in Leakey.

We’re staying at the Inn of the Hills (800.292.5690), 1001 Junction Hwy (27), Kerrville. Rooms are $85 a night. Before you Expedia Commandos start hammering me on the rate, this price includes the full breakfast. I have a 20 room block, but the hotel is always booked, so make your reservations early. The block and rate is good until January 8th, aks for the SWSC rate and make sure that you specify February since we also have a December block. If there any booking problems, contact me so we can get it straightened out. Friday night dinner is on your own. Post run Saturday night dinner is at the hotel. They have a prime rib and shrimp buffet. We have a private room from 5:45 until 7:30 and there is a $5 dining room charge per couple. Just like last year, we've outgrown all the regular dining rooms and will have to rent a big one to get everyone in.

Kerrville is and always will be an open run, so if you know anyone who wants to show up in anything other than a Sol/Sky, they are more than welcome to come and play. Basically, we don't care what you show up in, just show up. Radios are mandatory. There is no cell reception along the run route, so it is the only way we have to communicate. If you have any questions, please aks them in open forum. Chances are pretty good that someone else is wondering the same thing and it also saves me from a PM barrage.

When you sign up, I need to know whether you want to be in a Run (Fast) or a Tour (Not as Fast) group and how many will be coming. I will also need some Run/Tour Leads since we want to keep the groups to no more than 10 cars in a chase pack. And, hopefully, this will be the grand unveiling of my new toy.

Friday
9:30 - Launch for K'ville. Starbucks (132 W Loop 820 South) at 820 and I30.
Lunch TBD

Saturday
8:00 - Run Brief
8:20 - Line up & comm check
8:30 - Launch
Lunch in Leakey
5:45 - Dinner at the Inn of the Hills

Sunday
8:45 - Launch for N TX
Lunch in Stephenville

This sounds like a blast. I am in.

I live in San Antonio, so I would probably commute, rather than book a hotel. That way I can also bring my girl along, as we're not married yet. I assume that's fine?

As far as Run vs Tour, how fast is the run group? I'm inclined to go this direction, but I don't want to endanger my girl as I've never really pushed a RWD vehicle in twisties. I'd also be concerned about law enforcement. Can you speak to this at all?

Thanks a lot for this. I'm all excited now!

Sure, that'd be fine. Just make sure you are on time. We don't wait.
Run v Tour:
The big difference between the 2 are how hard and how much twisty driving you want to do. The Run group does the Sisters in both directions and the Tour group does 1 loop around. We want everbody to stay close to their comfort level. If you enjoy hitting the twisties fairly aggressively, then the Run is for you. If you enjoy a more leisurely pace, the Tour might be your style. Either way, we know that folks will get scattered out through the technical sections. At that point, we slow down or stop to get everyone together and off we go again.

The speed limits down there are between 55-75, even through the twisties and we stay pretty close to that. Speeding isn't an issue because a lot of the corners are 15-20 mph and you can't even get close to the speed limit. We don't do 100 down the straights like we've seen some other car clubs do.

Look forward to meeting y'all.

The straights were definitely my main concern with law enforcement and since I've never done anything like this, I wasn't sure if the Runners would be a bunch of heavily-modded psychos. :) But it sounds like that will be just my speed.

Put me down for the Run. Me and a passenger for all the Saturday events, but no lodging.

I assume that Friday is more of just a meet and get checked in type thing so I'd be fine showing up Saturday morning (with time to spare)? If I need to make an extra trip on Friday, I can do it, but I'd prefer not to take off work if I can avoid it.

Most of us are heavily-modded semi-psychos, but pissing off the local LEOs ain't very smart. We get too stupid out there and the 3 Sisters winds up like some of the other well known roads with a cop around every corner. Worse than that, somebody winds up getting hurt.

You're correct about Friday, most of us are coming in from Dallas/Fort Worth or the Houston area, haven't seen each other for a while and need some decompression time. ;)

I don't know why I was thinking it was next month Nathan. as a matter of fact, I think I'll go ahead and turn in a vacation request form now and start putting a few bucks aside. I'll do my best to make it and the 1st 6pack is on me.

Got it stuck, thanks! What are the "exact" times? What time should we be at the starbucks, about what time will it be the end of the meeting and onto the after parties (drinking of soft drinks, of course )
9:30 Friday is when we leave from Fort Worth, what time you want to be there is up to you. We stick very close to the times listed in post #1. We have people coming from 3 different states and there are Prayer Meetings  Fri & Sat night on the patio by the pool.
