Kerrville the 13th Run will be February 8th-10th. So, make your plans to drive the best roads in the most scenic area of Texas. For those that don't know, the 3 Sisters area is a technical course and even at slower (Tour) speeds, is not a Sunday drive in the park. It is a very challenging and fun drive due to the length and many twisty sections. The Kerrville Run is the full length version of the 3 Sisters Run that was offered for the Austin 2011 Nationals. We'll be doing lunch on the route. Several of the Leakey locals have gotten hip to what is going on down there and built a couple of spots that can handle our numbers for food unit distribution.

We'll be staying at the Inn of the Hills (800.292.5690), 1001 Junction Hwy (27), Kerrville. Rooms are $79 a night. I have a 20 room block, but the hotel is always booked, so make your reservations early. The block and rate is good until January 7th, aks for the SWSC rate and make sure that you specify February since we also have a December block. If there any booking problems, contact me so we can get it straightened out. Friday night dinner is on your own. Post run Saturday night dinner is at the hotel. They have a prime rib and shrimp buffet. We have a private room from 5:45 until 7:30 and there is a $5 dining room charge per couple. Just like last year, we've outgrown all the regular dining rooms and will have to rent a big one to get everyone in.

Kerrville is and always will be an open run, so if you know anyone who wants to show up in anything other than a Sol/Sky, they are more than welcome to come and play. Basically, we don't care what you show up in, just show up. Radios are mandatory. There is no cell reception along the run route, so it is the only way we have to communicate. If you have any questions, please aks them in open forum. Chances are pretty good that someone else is wondering the same thing and it also saves me from a PM barrage.

When you sign up, I need to know whether you want to be in a Run (Fast) or a Tour (Not as Fast) group and how many will be coming. I will also need some Run/Tour Leads since we want to keep the groups to no more than 10 cars in a chase pack.

Friday
9:30 - Launch for K'ville. Starbucks (132 W Loop 820 South) at 820 and I30.
Lunch in Lampasas

Saturday
8:00 - Run Brief
8:20 - Line up & comm check
8:30 - Launch
Lunch in Leakey
5:45 - Dinner at the Inn of the Hills

Sunday
8:45 - Launch for N TX

Excellent. Hope y'all can make it.

The radios are the FRS type. Midland, Motorola, & Cobra all work pretty well, but I think the best bang for the buck are the Midlands.

I am considering a trip up north to take in one of these. It’s about a 5 hour drive from Mission. I will try and be there on Sat.

We're talking about being fairly aggresive in the twisty bits. Since the speed limit in those parts are 55-70, we can push pretty good through there without getting a ticket. If you've been on a spririted cruise or done any track days, you're good. We don't want anyone exceeding their comfort level too much, so we sort the packs according to what you feel comfortable with. We know that we'll get strung out in the twisties, so when the Leads see this, they find a good spot to slow down or stop and get the group back together. The Fast groups do the Sisters in both directions, since they drive differently depend on which way you're going. The Tour group does 1 clockwise loop.

weeeell, never done this or a track day before, but I used to get paid (poorly) to drive around a high speed oval... probably doesn't exactly count cause I always turned left.

We'll let the Lead in whatever group you're in give you a heads-up on the whole right turn thing... ;)

Howdy All & Happy New Year 2013. FYI, Darlene & Harvey Mallory have gone out of the sports car game; private sale of our Coupe went down early last December. Issue for us is Darlene has experienced a number of health setbacks in consequence of which, we have been less willing and able to spend time in an open car at speed. We will miss the companionship and the "twisties". God speed all and esp. Stuck for his dedication to this premier event of open car, open road travel. Bye, bye!

Harv, great to hear from you again. Hope Darlene is doing better. Just 'cause y'all can't do the twisties doesn't mean you can't still come do dinner with us Saturday night. Hope to see y'all.
