A bit off subject but still pertains to buying a coupe : I remember reading something about cars that have safety recalls not being able to be brought into Canada does the same apply to cars being exported or maybe I have this backwards ?

A guy bought a car in Canada and couldn't get it over the border to the US - crazy when all cars on both sides are subject to the same recall.

Logic dictates that it would work the same way going from the US to Canada but there isn't always a lot of logic in cross border crossing. Who knows?

this is the same car as the one in post #1715.

It seems that owner put the car up on ebay USA and ebay Canada...
I'm so gullible.

Still in San Diego county

$24,000, Only 1266 GXP coups were ever made. This is 1 of only 349 manual transmissions ever produced and only 50 in silver.

This is a California car, it has never been subjected to the damaging effects of snow or colder weather. This is an amazingly fun car to drive and only really comes to life as a manual over the automatic versions.

The 4 cylinder dual-scroll turbo produces 260HP with 260 torque. If that is not enough a simple GM modification brings the car to 300HP with 300 torque.

Brand new Hankook performance tires improve the already agile handling.

Factory upgraded audio, which includes the Monsoon amp and sub-woofer.

Car has just come back from a full detail job which included having the entire car clayed to remove any impurities.

All around great car, never wanted to sell but sometimes being practical has to win out.

Purchased 0994 yesterday and will stay in county. Picked up for @ 30% off original price. I never did run CarFax.. I used to be a mechanic by trade, we'll see how much that helped..lol Owner told me about "damage" right away and said was door opened into front end. Frame, etc looks untouched. He said if he was smart he would have paid out of pocket to keep off CarFax as repair with front, inner fender etc was just over 5K. Was told his Dad works for local dealer so got some various "hook ups".
As a sidebar, I own 6 TVRs so no stranger to rare cars..
Not sure how to get full size pic to appear, but click on thumbnail for pic taken today. (Apologies to those of you in colder climes..)
BTW, thanx for this forum as I perused many threads over a year ago when I was first interested.

Bill

Something looked suspicious, like a Z0K Club Sport with an automatic trans, so I ran a build sheet from CompNine on the VIN. It had a standard FE2 suspension when built and NO suspension mods. Buyer beware!

:dunno:

Someone from the Facebook group went to see this car.
Apparently, this car has not been treated well...

"The paint touch ups we're shoddy. The rims had been resprayed crappily with paint on the valve stem covers. For 58k miles, it must have had some farm animals as owners. "

"Top panel was damaged on passenger side as if dropped and panel was cracked by the 3rd latch. Top panel had respray on one corner. No key fob. The rear bumper had orange peel spray compared to the rear quarter panels. The hatch didn't open right and seemed to be a little off. Engine and trans seemed good. There were spots with damaged paint. Wrong radio (from another GM car). "
