World's lowest car loses out to love life

The world's lowest road legal car is being put up for sale so its owner can buy a house with his girlfriend.

Adrian Beale is selling the 60 centimetres high converted Mini, called Lowlife, for £30,000.

He wants to raise money to buy a house in Birmingham for himself and his girlfriend.

The car holds the Guinness World Record for being the world's lowest legal road vehicle. It gives a "hedgehog's eye view" of the road.

It has just two and a half centimetre ground clearance. The car took 18 months to plan and three years to build, costing about £10,000.

It is built from the shell of a 1967 Austin Mini with parts of a further three minis added. Its V8, three and a half litre Rover injection engine gives it a top speed of 160mph.

Adrian, a motor enthusiast from Great Barr, Birmingham, says he is now forced to put the motor up for sale to get a house with his girlfriend.
