Just wanted to say a quick hello, joined up a few days ago, picked up my 08 mean GXP roadster 5-speed back at the end of nov. Unfortunately the weather her on Long Island hasnt been the best so havent had much time to drive it (like many others is my weekend toy)or get any picture, but for now it looks like any other yellow GXP. Already added a K&N intake (ordered it from work the day after i put a deposit on the car) and many more mods planned, acually thats how I found this forum... go google LOL. Anyway a little backround on me,Im a former BMW tech and run the comercial department at Advance Autoparts so Im pretty good at working on my own cars, Ive also owned various LS based cars including a 11 second TA, 11 Camaro ss and an 07 vette so any LS questions I probably have an answer, well sorry for the long post and Im looking forward to warmer weather and going out to some events.

You joined an awesome forum my friend with lots of good folks on here. A lot of good ideas for mods on here if you go that route, You'll enjoy your '08 unless you don't like attention'cause they get lots of it.

yeah been doing a lot of reading.... (only good thing about snow and sub zero temps), so far have a few mods planned, solo center exhaust and high flow cat, forge BPV and def need to get it tuned after, Im used to dyno tunes but dont know ant LNF tuner near me on LI, so I probably go with trifecta.... and I dont mind attention, been a member of several local car clubs for years, in fact I love helping out and talking about all my experiences....

Welcome! Great group here and will help you with anything. I assume that BPV means blow-off valve...right? An external BPV does nothing for the car but make the air rushing out louder. Also the CAI does nothing of consequence...other then foul the MAF sensor if you use an oiled filter. You will have to get a tune if you add the BPV right away as the car won't run right and throw a CEL immediately. And the external BPV is a pain in the arse to setup correctly without replacing the turbo. There's only a handful of guys that have successfully done it here without issues. The exhaust and HFC should add some power. You should be around 300 with a Trifecta tune, but you could get closer to 320 with a custom tune...

I had a forge bypass valve on my old cobalt ss, I know its stronger then stock, no interest in a blow off valve, they do sound nice but do nothing for performance, and Ive had K&N filters on many of my cars and never had any issues, plus I do love the sound, I know the computer takes over and doesnt give me any gains, but Im addicted to the sound....

Cai on our cars can actually cause issues with the tune...

I know it sounds crazy, but a lot of us have had to rescale the maf due to issues.

Hello and welcome, pretty new myself as I acquired my 07 Mean GXP in Dec.
As I said in my 1st post I'm not very mechanical so all these abbreviations are way over my head. I do know I want to add a K&N air intake. I was looking on eBay garage and I've seen them on there for $328. Can anyone advise if this is a good price or where else I should look.

thanks for all the welcomes.... I saw the tread about the nationals.... its def something Im considering.... as for the intake I acually got it through work, we sell k&N products and I just ordered it up for myself... as for my old fleet all have been sold, The solstice was going to be a temporary fun car while I got myself debt free (traded in my 07 vette for it), but now after driving it for a few weeks, when I get my C7 it will have to find a place next to it.... as for the intake causing issues, im lucky I have a scanner so if I see it causing probs Ill switch out the K&N filter for a non oiled one... found one on my shelf at work that will fit.... really looking forward to all the events now....
