Purchased a 2007 GXP with 34,000 KM on it (just over 20,000 Miles) Had to drive it home about 50 miles. During the drive I noted what sounds like a noisy differential. Noise is typical for a noisy Diff as in present under load absent at low load or coast modes.

Drive was done with the top up and other than the noise the differential is acting normal in all respects.

Given that this is my first IRS car I wonder if I should be worrying about this or is it a charastic of a solidly mounted center section transmitting normal gear noise thru the body.

All input greatly appreciated.

Awesome car!:)

There are a lot of posts on the differential.

Pull a GM maintenance report from your local dealer. Verify that the pinion recall was performed. There is a procedure for installing a special additive to the rear end that helps on some cases. Unless it gets very loud or begins to fail, once the pinion recall and the fluid additive are installed the universal answer is " it's normal"
