While working on my Redline weekend before last, I noticed that my driver's side wheel well liner is for a Redline and my passenger's side wheel well liner is for an NA. Questions: (1) Is there supposed to be a duct between the inlet and the hole that sends air to cool the brakes? (2) Do I need to do anything about the wrong liner being on the passenger's side (cut a hole in it, replace it, etc.)? In other words, does it make a difference?

Since I can't post pics here...

Hope this helps I have an NA and went on a couple of sites to replace my passenger side liner and yes there is a difference even the part numbers are different as per Soggkins Dickey Chevrolet & Crate Engine Depot .The difference is a provision for an air vent GM part #25831931

weird, was it in a wreck before you got it? if you are worried about it, I'd cut a hole in it so the air can pass thru and call it done. Suppose you could buy the correct one too. they are not too hard to replace. just be sure and buy a package of push clips.

Yeah there is supposed to be a duct between the liners and the front bumper on both sides but as they are of dubious value I wouldn't bother to change them. Even if you track the car there won't be a big difference with or without the ducts.

Unless it really bothers you drive the car and enjoy it,

I don't believe that it came out of the factory like that. I work in the auto industry and there are pull systems in place to make sure this doesn't happen. Believe me when I say if the wrong part was pulled, alarms would have gone off. Now if it was damaged in transit by the carrier and repaired so it could be delivered that's an entirely different thing.

Yep. I'm sure you have seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off right??? The transporter guy took it for a joy ride and had a flat. Since there was no spare, he had to drive it a few miles and that's what tore up the wheel well liner. then, when he ordered a replacement, he looked up the wrong one. I wonder if you couldn't mention it to the dealer and see if they will send you the correct piece. worth a try.
