Just wanted to let everyone know that my car, VIN 206 was delivered this morning at Hendrick Pontiac, Cary, NC. I need go home and get the camera and shoot some pictures. The build date was 8/5, so it was only 17 days for shipping to NC.

Time to do some dealer parking lot burn outs! :D

Congratulations!!!! I'm so jealous. My sol was built on 8/5/05 too, but I'm way down in Middle Alabama so who knows how long it'll take to arrive. Hope the weather is perfect for all your cruising time. :yesnod:

Thanks everyone, Mr. Mallett himself is coming down tomorrow to escort the car back to his shop in Ohio. I just might have to do a weekend trip to Ohio and see the work in progress.

Plans for the car to date:

LS7 (427 cu in. upgrade)
Vortec Supercharger
Tremec 6-Speed transmission
Upgrade brakes and suspension
Larger wheels and tires
Interior upgrades

The wheels and tires are so heavy it takes a launch at 5,000 rpms to get them to smoke

Is Mallett going to video the diferent stages of the build up of the car?.

I will asked if he is getting the conversion documented with pictures/video. The burnout at 5k rpms is with the stock engine, not very long lived though. With the wheel/tire weighing in over 50 lbs each.

Vin 160

Michelle from Solstice Headquarters called to confirm our VIN #160 and to tell us our car has been produced, she said we had to contact the dealer to check to see when it would be transported. Naturally, a call was made to the dealer who was found to be out on a lunch break.
Hope the cars comes before Friday, cause the person I sold my car to will be picking it up on Friday.
Anxiously waiting my new ride.

K :willy:

More like this car does not have enough power to do it otherwise
I agree the car is underpowered for it's size. The tires will chirp on the first 2 shifts, but the rpm build is on the slow side. A big lag between 1st and 2nd for rpm build up. Like I have said in the past, this car will be much better with some performance upgrades. If the GXP lives up to the speculation of 240+ HP then they will have a performance winner too!

Terp, you say the car is underpowered, but it is as responsive as a MX-5 at about $1000 less and a heck of a lot better looking.

It could always use more power, but for $25K topped out, it is still a heck of a deal. For many, this will be just fine (as it is for 750,000 miata owners across the world that seem to have gotten by on worse power:weight ratio and 0-60).

:agree: If I felt the need for that "jerk you back in your seat" kinda power, I would have been looking at something else, or waited for a turbo. I wanted something with great looks, handling, and more than adequate power. In other words, a Solstice.
