Plastic Brake Handle cover

Does anyone know how to remove the plastic cover from the brake handle? I see a plastic tab on the side which I tried to pull out but wouldn’t budge. So rather than use force and possibly break it I thought I’d first ask the Forum. I want to customize the plastic part of the handle and removing it would make it easier. Any help will be appreciated.
