NASSM 2014 is pleased to offer an All-day High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE) on Friday, June 20th, 2014 at the East Course (Option 2) of the legendary Pocono International Raceway.

This is not a competitive event, but it will give you an opportunity to explore your KAPPAS and your capabilities at speed in a relatively safe environment. Passing will occur only on straightaways and with the permission of the driver being passed. The cost to attend is $250.00 based on 40 cars participating. Participants will get 150 minutes (2.5 hours) on the track, in a group of drivers close to your comfort level of speed. Lunch will be provided.

There will be three run groups which will be determined by past road course experience: Novice, Intermediate, Advanced. Novice and Intermediate drivers will be given a classroom session and a lead-follow session on the track to learn the course. Your car will be given a tech inspection at the hotel prior to track day. Roll bars or cages are not required. Passengers are not allowed in a participant's car.

Before getting on the track you will need to show proof of at least $10,000 of A.D. & D. insurance. Liability insurance is included. Your car will be safety inspected and you will need to have or can share, a Snell SA2005 (Expires 1/1/2017) or a Snell SA2010 (Expires 1/1/2022) helmet. Snell M2005 and DOT with the latest certification (2013) are also acceptable.

Please take the time to read the information listed in the six pdf files. All the documents can be downloaded and printed at your convenience. You will need to register for this event and make your payment by MAY 15, 2014.

If we don't see the numbers needed by that date, the probability of track cancellation will be high. In the event of cancellation, those who have paid for track time will be fully refunded either on site at the Bushkill Inn or through the USPS, your choice.

Thank you!

You can register and read the pdf's here:
NASSM 2014 - Poconos - June 18-22

Spectators are welcome to enter and leave whenever they want; and, since we are arranging a lunch for the participants of the HPDE the cafeteria will be available to spectators as well. So, everyone is welcome to come watch their friends - new and old - flog their KAPPAs around the east road course, take pics and vids, socialize with those not on track, and get close to learning what it's like to find safe limits of your driving skills.

CPB - honestly at this point the only answer we can provide is we don't know. Our first hurdle is to gain enough support to actually run the event! Once we have achieved that goal and move into planning stages with the raceway we will be able to answer that question, so please be patient.

Sound Limit? Not that we are aware of, obviously it needs to be a proper and safe exhaust system first and foremost, but we are unaware of specific sound restrictions.

Bumping for visibility. If you signed up on the raceway interest thread and still want to run the track, this is the time to register for participation on the website. We need to get the numbers by March.

Thank you and happy :driving: http://66.132.1.89/raceway.asp

AD & D is accidental death and dismemberment insurance. You can't rent a helmet at the raceway although you might be able to share one. We'll have helmet socks for whoever needs them.

How many signed up? Playing it by ear if I'm going to be able to make the nats right now. We're moving back from Moscow on/about the 15th of June. Don't know if that's going to give adequate time to get to MO and get the car, then get back to PA for the nats.

I DO already know that we're moving back to MD (next duty station the same as the last 3 times I served in the 'states). Just don't know how timing is going to line up for our house. We're finally buying this round - so scheduling the closing on the house might conflict with the nationals... IF I can make it, I'd certainly be interested in the HPDE.

We're nowhere near the original number needed for us to sign a contract with the Pocono Raceway.

Emails will be going out to those 40 who expressed interest - hoping to have the tally in hand by April, not February 28th.

A Miata friend of yours is a Miata friend of ours. Does he know any other Miata friends who might want to run the course? We could use about 20.

I just signed up and sent the link to my buddy who will post it on his S2000 forum. I'm pretty sure we'll get a few from that group.

Thanks Bob, we opened it up to the Miata community and we're seeing a few sign on.
