Question for the automatic owners ,
Can someone explain the D 4 I L to me please?
The only info I find online is 4 I and L are used for slopes or down hill deceleration. As for racing do you just leave it in D (drive) ?
ive been leaving mine in D all the time.wait a minute isnt R for Race??? apparently in 4 acceleration is supposed to be better around town without overdrive to shift out of first,but im not in that big of a hurry and it seems unusual to leave it in 4th...what if i get on a highway and forget its unable to engage overdrive?
L will keep you in first and second gear till redline before it will upshift
I will downshift you to second/third and hold it in higher RPMs depending on current speed
4 will drop you down into 4th and not shift into 5th until you hit redline
*all of them will upshift, they will just hold the lower gears longer then when in D
During datalogging, when doing a 40 pull I will stay in "L" that way you keep within second gear and get a decent pull, then you can bump it to "I" if you want. Anything more then a 40, you want to use "I".
