Hello everyone....I'm going to be changing my differential fluid soon and would like to hear from anyone who used Royal Purple or Mobile One fluids. I understand these have the special modifiers already added and work fine with our differentials. Just wanted to check to see if those who used any of these have had good results and perhaps noticeable improvements sound or noise issues. Want to use Royal Purple here but needed to be sure...

Thanks in advance!

I replaced mine with Mobil 1. I did not add any modifiers. A few weeks later I started having the clutch plates in the diff grab when turning the car in a tight radius.

I hurriedly added the modifier and after a week or so the grabbing went away.

Do not listen to the manufacturer's claim of not needing the modifier. You do.

I saw no difference in sound issues.

Because of posi traction chatter, the GM TSB fix for it not working after 2500 miles I just switched to Royal Purple 75w/90 Max Gear fluid. Noise is gone , only been a couple of days though but it sure is quiet. Last year I had GM do their TSB on the vehicle for noisy diffs, drain the fluid, re fill, drive around doing figure 8's, drain again, refill and add the friction additive. It did make the noise go away but 2500 miles later it was back. Not sure if Royal Purple will be a long term fix but short term problem is gone. I note on various GM forums where the same diff is used many folks are saying Royal Purple has quieted their diff's down.
