I have a 2007 GXP with 26,000 miles. It is an automatic transmission. Lately, when it downshifts, it seems to do so with a jerk. This doesn't happen all the time but does especially when cold. Does anyone else have or had this problem and if so, what is the remedy?

thanks,

Bighead,

I am sorry to hear you are having this concern. Rob the Elder has provided some advice as well. If you still need your GM dealership to look into this, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. You can private message me your name, VIN, phone number, and dealership.

Another thing to check is the MAF sensor. If the MAF sensor is dirty it will report the incorrect calculated torque and the TCM will go into a protect mode that will feel like someone slams on the brakes when you are coming to a stop, especially into 2nd or 1st gears.

Go to any parts store (advance, autozone, pep boys, etc) and get some "MAF Cleaner". Remove the MAF from your intake and spray it down really well, especially into the little openings in the MAF. Let air dry which only takes about a minute, re-install and test.

The MAF's on these cars tend to get a little dirty and will cause the issue you are having, try it out.

Hope that helps,
Dave
