Rumor that DDM to going to offer a Kappa SC kit again? 5/24/23

I was reading posts in FB Kappa groups today, and someone stated that he had recently picked up a Solstice, and was thinking of modifying it. He then said that DDM was going to start offering a supercharger kit again. That caught me off guard so I asked him if DDM was really bringing a SC kit back. The guy replied: "that he spoke to DDM. The kit will be offered again. I spoke to Ivy and Dave at DDM and they confirmed this. They are working through sourcing issues as a result of Covid."

I sure hope it's true, but I don't want to get my hopes up since we've been down this road before. The guy didn't offer what kind of SC (positive or centrifugal) but I hope it's a Roots (positive) SC for instant boost, and low end grunt. I know I could contact DDM to try and get additional information, but again I've gotten my hopes up once before and don't want to do it again.

Still If anyone has heard any additional info please post it here. TIA.

If only we could add a small one to the gxp for low end torque … now you’d be talking!
I know silly dream…

It would be very nice if they are able to pull it off. We went through a similar exercise a couple of years that ended with Covid

Someone from DDM had posted here about this last year. Said their house Solstice sat on the back of the shop for a few years, shared a photo and told us they would bring it out of storage, give it some care and start again on an SC kit. I'm not sure he mentioned which model but for some reason my mind keeps thinking it's a Rotrex... which I believe off the top of my heaqd is what they offer nowadays for the Slingshot.

Following this because my current stage 2 kit needs a stage 3 upgrade but unfortunately if a kit does become available again it will not be the 1st generation mp62 design. Might have to sell my kit and purchase the rotrex kit. Also I’m still waiting for any word on a coil over package rumored to be offered for the kappa branded by DDM. Iv eaten so much popcorn and wore out a few recliners waiting with anticipation 😂

I need to reassure myself that

Here's the thread by Mike at DDM, from about 14 months ago.

I remember that thread, and just skimmed the DDM posts, but they come across as more titillating than confirmation that they are going to start offering SC kits. I guess time will tell, plus price is always at the forefront of my mind when it comes to ANY modification.

"So we will be doing an Oil Change, Differential fluid change, trans fluid change, checking the clutch, exhaust gaskets/connections (has a leak), checking all mounts, coolant flush, and we will probably do a compression test on it as well to make sure everything is 100% before we start throwing some boost at her."

"My favorite boost flavor is turbo and generally I drink it out of a 7psi can."

"Also, something we are looking at getting back running. Might not be the MP62 exactly since they are so hard to come by currently but this is still on our radar. ;)"

The key to a good result is the tune. A friend did the SC when they first became available, then drove back to DDM for the upgrade when that was first available. His challenge has been the tune. To this day he still has to drive around some pretty serious pinging.

Rotrex=Caveat Emptor

Mine has grenaded twice. It wasn't like I was romping on it, I went to 6 lbs max. Still want to run an SC, but looking for an alternative to Rotrex.

Just so I'm clear, what grenaded the engine or the Rotrex? The only alternative I'm aware of is of someone retrofitting the Cobalt FWD Roots style SC onto a 06.

The Rotrex. Dave built me a bullet proof engine w/ billet rods, pistons and a hardened crank. The 2.4 had a bad history of blowing a jug under forced induction. The further I looked into the Rotres, the more I saw of different car makes having the same issue. Your results may vary. Not dumping on DDM in any form, lurvs me some Dave and Ivy.

Anybody ever tried a Lysholm style compressor? Seems they have quite a load on coasting due to compression drag so a Mercedes-style electric coupled pulley would be advisable...
if it's blowing at 6 pounds, it's more then likely the tune.somtingwong.probably not the compressor at all.
My Rotrex failed in 3 years, 8000 miles more or less, and no oil change. Probably my bad as the oil is rated 2 years or 50,000 miles.
