Reposted from the Sky side:

Back in August, in anticipation of a September run to Put-in-Bay (PIB) and the October T2TR run, I took the Sky in for an oil change. While it was there I decided to have the brakes resurfaced and a couple routine maintenance issues done (like plugs). When I picked it up I noticed the parking brake wouldn't hold. So I took it back. They couldn't get the parking brake adjusted properly and wound up having to replace the cable on their nickel (there was nothing wrong with the parking brake when I took it in).

I picked the car up a couple weeks before PIB. I drove it an hour our so away on a business trip and noticed it was was sputtering and the power was dropping out. We found the PCV valve was broken off (from the grime, it was clear it was an old break). So they ordered that and fixed it.

When I picked the car up the day before PIB, I noticed they didn't put the exhaust back on straight. I took it back again. They couldn't straighten it. No biggie since I was going right by the guy that put the exhaust on in the first place, so he could do it for me.

The morning I left for PIB, I then started to clean up the car a bit for the trip and discovered that they had lifted the car without the pucks and destroyed both front rocker panels (think jigsaw puzzle) and one of the rear panels.

That night I got to Coop's house and he straightened the exhaust, but in the process he found that the shop had dropped my exhaust to work on the parking brake and broken my RPi downpipe off at the flange (hence the real reason for the sputtering / drop outs).

When I got back from PIB, the car went into the body shop (again on their nickel). Three rocker panels replaced and painted, doors painted, etc. I also had them take some other dings out and repaint the trunk lid on my dime. The car was not ready for T2TR, a high school homecoming parade shortly thereafter, etc.

I picked the car up from the body shop a week ago. Yesterday, I went over to Coop's to take off the RPi downpipe and put the stock downpipe on. Last night about 10:15, we were headed home on a rural two lane highway, when a deer ran out in front of me - left to right. I couldn't see it until the last second because of the headlights of an oncoming truck. The deer hit and damaged the splitter, chrome trim, and hood right in front of me, then rolled up over the top (over my wife's head), and scuffed up the spoiler and diffuser. In other words the deer damaged every single body panel that had not just been replaced and/or painted.

Body shop, here we come again...:banghead:

Between the incompetence of the dealer working on your car, and mother nature abusing it, lets hope that this year ends peacefully for you 2..
Lord knows you have suffered enough... good luck with your further repairs..:willy:

One of those days when "you shoulda stood in bed"! Sorry about the damage, and glad the deer got lofted. Could've been much worse.

Wow, that is too bad.

Are they going to make you whole on the RPI downpipe they broke?

Think of it as an incrementally applied repaint.

After getting Punisher repainted, we have repainted the front bumper cover twice, the rear bumper cover twice and one more is planned. Also both doors have been repainted once, the right one is due for another repaint (VDI doors and hoods do not mix)

thses things always come in three's. so did it kill the deer or did it run off into the woods? I 'd have found a way to get it home and would have enjoyed it over the next couple of months. I love deer sausage. had my last one made into chicken fried steaks and they were good. Glad you guys are OK and good for you for making the dealer replace the panels.

I'm with the law of averages on this one. All the crap you just went through just means you have many years of trouble free motoring ahead!

Glad everyone was okay with the deer incident.

I generally think the same way chicken. However, this would not apply to my wife. I was calling her Schleprock for a while there. Just when you say; oh well, you got it out of the way, you should be good for a while...Bam!, she runs into something else.

They paid me the purchase price of the downpipe. And as it works out, this will be a complete repaint over the last two months :)

Not a clue on what happened to the deer after the impact. We were on an unlit two lane rural highway in a construction zone (which may have been part of the reason we fared as well as we did - we were only going about 40), so there really wasn't anywhere safe to stop.

It's the "Law of 3's". Everything comes in 3's. When I was the rental manager (210 Lincoln loaner cars for service), whenever I would get one that was damaged, it was an automatic 2 more in the next 2 days....and if I got a fourth....I was getting 2 more.... Just the way it happened.

lol - My wife can have a bad string of luck from time to time also, but fortunately nothing that involves a collision!
