I feel like such an idiot for posting this but I just could not resist. I have tried several times to fold in my mirror because it looks like it could. However, everytime i tried to fold it, it sounded like it was going to snap off and it seemed like it was taking too much force to fold. So yesterday, (I have had my sol for over a year now) I said F--k-it and forced it to fold. I just shook my head in shame, lol.

Anyone else notice that it takes some force to fold their mirrors, or are mine virgin mirrors? BTW its an 06

Virgin mirrors are tight?

Yes, they do fold. I do so every time I wash so I can blow compressed air down inside the stems to get the water out that always DRIBBLES DOWN 4 HOURS AFTER I'M DONE AND IT RUINS ALL MY HARD WORK AND MAKES THE DOORS LOOK LIKE POO!!!

I'm better now.

They have a spring loaded mechanism that acts to hold them in position but allows them to rotate before suffering mechanical damage. Glad you figured out how to fold them.

They came off a Fiat. All the cars in Europe have folding mirrors - the parking spaces are narrower and you'd come back to smashed mirrors if you didn't fold them. Some cars now automatically fold them when you turn off the ignition.

Thats a great idea! God I hate those dribbles. Its funny because they do leave a water streak going down the door when they do finally stop their dribble. I would hold my shammy at the bottom of the mirror to try and get all the water out.

Yeah, well I have news for you. Blowing the air down there helps but it still doesn't eliminate it! I've resigned to the fact that when I'm done I just need to cap a beer and walk around it with the chamois to catch the strays. If one does drip, well then I have to grab another beer and stay vigilante.

Did you turn them so the glass it towards, or away, from the window?

In towards the glass. why, do they turn more the other way? if so then I owe the chicken a beer.
Better make it two just in case!

But seriously folks. I usually spin them about 90 so they sit still, blow air down the mount and up the mirror stem. Several times. Then do the aforementioned "drink and wait for the drips" routine.

How about 1 beer for every degree past 90 when you rotate the back outboard?

;)
Or y'all can each give me a beer for every feather on your avatar? ;)

So is the proper turnout of the windows inwards towards the window or away? I've read both ways so far... Please don't tell me they can pop off too and can be re-installed facing the sky... So many choices!! Ah
