Solstice at Epcot (Walt Disney World) [Now with Pics]

Just to let anyone who is in the area, has a season pass, or is planning a trip soon, a Cool Solstice is available for viewing at the Test Track ride in Epcot at Walt Disney World (Orlando). I'm a part-time Cast Member so I check the ride every couple of weeks and finally saw it! This is at the exit of the actual ride, in an indoor area which has a bunch of GM vehicles on display (some to sit in, some are kept away from prying hands).

It is pretty cool because the Sol is "unveiled" every couple of minutes on a stage, similar to the first unveiling of a concept car. I didn't have much time to stay around, or else I would have enjoyed it being unveiled a couple of times, and seeing the reaction of the public.

Aside from the Sol, there is a H3 and a SSR available that you can sit in, as well as many other GM cars.

I'll try to get some pics the next time I can go... sometime this week most likely.

Here it is...

Alrighty, finally got around to uploading my pics of the Sol... These should be in order, from the Sol behind closed doors, to the unveiling (which happens every 5 minutes to a new group of onlookers complete with dimmed lighting, spotlights, and introduced via a general Pontiac video/commercial playing a huge display next to the car)

....then there are a few pics of the other cars in the exhibit to give you a good idea of what it looks like, followed by the kiosk where you can enter to win a Solstice, and finally, their awe-insipiring display of a fleet of Deep Solstices, which can be had for only $5-$8 (I could have a whole army of Sols, but only bought one)! Sorry for the bad camera/lighting... enjoy!

Disney Sol

I saw the Sol at Epcot a couple of weeks ago. I hope the car is more reliable than the Test Track ride. The ride stopped 4 times for problems on my ride. I did not see the Deep 1.24. My Deep was built 5 weeks ago and I am still waiting.

LOL, the ride is a waste of time, I just go through the exit to get to the GM exibit whenever I'm there.

The ride is never a waste of time. Never stop being a kid and experiencing the wonder of life. There is plenty of time go grow old and synical.

just my thoughts from a cynical Cast Member... one of the few that actually still goes to the parks... I love Epcot (mostly for the food), but to be honest, if you've been on it a couple of times, it gets old pretty fast. The number 1 complaint about that ride as people exit- "so I just stood in line for an hour to ride in a convertible at 60 mph? I could have done that on the way home." I'm the first to defend Disney for having more imaginative rides that may suffer from some lack of thrills... I just think the GM ride could have been done a little better, with less breakdowns to boot.
