I'm wondering what the experience has been with with turbo or supecharger installations and various state emissions testing programs. Especially the OBD II type testing that plugs into the port to view emissions parameters. Assuming all emissions functions still work, are people able to pass emissionstesting without problems?

The simple answer is yes, people do

The real question is what does your geographic require if anything and can a particular mod pass

It's very different in different locations

I can fair warn you that if you put an after market turbo in your solstice and your in cali your going to have a few issues. Your first being that the car may still pass all the emmisions tests still however when they do the visual inspection they will fail the car. Your next issue will be finding someone that will take the turbo and everything off so that you can pass the emmisions test if you dont know how to remove it yourself.

However there are alot of places in california that if you slip the guy a few extra bucks they'll pass the car. Only catch with that is, if authorities find out they can shut that buisness down so alot of shops will not do it for you.

In Colorado unless you live near the People's Republic of Denver you are not subject to testing.

If you do sadly live near PRD, then you are tested against the criteria the car met when it was produced. They dont even open the hood. You could have a turbine in there as long as the exhaust met the minimum criteria. They do use mirror wands to inspect the exhaust to see cats, but as long as they see something, anything, its a pass.
