I recently had my oil changed and tires rotated at a nearby GM dealership. The service rep recommended having the throttle body serviced at a cost of $130. I don't see anything in my user's manual (2.4L ecotec) about this maintenance. Is it advisable, necessary or just optional?

I do not have any direct experience with the 2.4. But having said that, there are a few instances of 2.4 owners describing issues they experienced with CELs and less than optimal running that were addressed by cleaning the throttle body.

If your car is not having any problems, and is still relatively low mileage, I would ask the dealer tech to justify the need for servicing the throttle body. Then you can make an informed decision:thumbs:
